Ortlieb Back Roller Plus Single Pannier

The bag more than lives up to my expectations.

The Ortlieb Back Roller Plus pannier is immediately impressive for its ease of use and efficiency. The handle makes it easy to attach, making it particularly practical for frequent stops. Its generous capacity makes it easy to carry the essentials for daily commutes or long rides, while the inside pocket adds a touch of comfort by making it easier to organise. The adjustable closure is well thought-out and adapts easily to the volume carried. However, there are a few points that detract from the experience. Installing the lower wedge, which passes through the shelves, requires patience and lacks ergonomics. The strap, which can only be used when the pannier is closed, is of limited use for quick trips. We also regret the lack of dedicated storage for the anti-theft device, which wanders around inside and bangs as soon as the road becomes uneven. Finally, the high price puts this model in the premium category, which is justified especially if long-term reliability is guaranteed. The fact remains that this pannier combines practicality, volume and comfort of use, with a design that inspires confidence. However, we'll have to judge the durability of the plastics and fastening systems over time to confirm its benchmark status.

The Ortlieb back roller plus QL 2.2 is a very sturdy, waterproof and spacious pannier that is ideal for daily commutes. The QL 2.2 is sturdy and the hooks can also be set wider so it fits perfectly on my Stromer ST3 luggage rack without the hooks touching my mudguard. I am happy to pay a bit more for this pannier.
