The QXL series is an even more extreme chain ring from Rotor compared to the Q-Rings. With a ovality of 16% these chainrings are 6% more oval than the standard Q-Rings that are ''just'''10%.
The thoughts behind Rotor:
Rotor’s intention with the Q-Ring and QXL-Rings is clear: every pedal stroke has a ‘dead center’ when the cranks are in a vertical position. This is where your power output is the lowest so you want to get over that point as efficiently as possible. Rotor Q-Rings and QXL-Rings have less teeth on the chainrings so you’re past that point quicklier. It has more teeth where you have more power. This principle sees that you get over the top-dead-center efficiently so you get to your maximum power output with as much momentum as possible. Your pedal stroke has way better power distribution which improves your cadence and is less tiring for your muscles.
This technology is characterised by efficiency. Rotor believe that their products may not make you speedy as such, but that these rings improve your pedal stroke in such a way that your actual nett time is guaranteed to be faster.
Several scientific studies have proved this positive effect of Rotor Q-Rings / QXL-Rings. Even greater evidence for this are the many victories of professionals that use the Rotor chainrings.
