Gryphon and nothing else!

- Marco, 17 November, 2022

I use these tubeless ready covers for XC. I do well on all terrain and just a great choice if you only have one pair of tubeless wheels.

Pros & Cons

easy mounting
excellent sealing
nice graphics on the shoulder

Just a really good tyre well priced

- Gary, 19 June, 2022

Great tyre . I use it pretty much all year round . Great for trails wet or dry . I’m not knee deep in mud so they work well through winter . Not bad on the road , close nobbles so they roll ok . Tubeless. Not stupidly hard to fit on the rims . I even cross race on these in winter. Spot on.

Pros & Cons

Great for most off road
Great value
Tubeless
Not the fastest on road

Still a go-to even after Brexshit.

- David, 29 January, 2022

Wanted to buy 4 tyres, had to split order due to maximum cost. Led to 2 shipping fees. Conservative twats in UK to blame. .

Pros & Cons

Fast delivery to uk
Good price
Can't order things over £150, not your fault.

Good grip on dry and some wet

- Michael, 27 January, 2021

Good grip on dry and some wet mud and ice (inflated to 2.5bar). Were not sealing from the first few minutes, but after a few hours sealed well enough. Provides a nice cushioned ride for gravel and cyclox type tracks.

Pros & Cons

good cushioning
good grip and thread
takes some playing around to seal

Genuine cyclocross tyre

- Rob, 18 December, 2020

Went well on the rim(DT460) but difficult to get tubeless. Took several days anyway with constant re-inflating and refilling and shaking of sealant. After 1 week sealed enough to ride it. Tyre reasonable volume and 34mm wide. Can ride it at 2.5bar with 80kg weight without punching through roots and rocks. Lots of grip and steering stability, would buy it again. Points deduction for poor sealing, with Schwalbe X-One all-round I didn't have that problem, but then again it has less grip.

Pros & Cons

Affordable
Grip
Real cyclocross tub
Smooth
Volume
Hard to get tubeless

Not a true TLR tyre

- Gerald, 10 December, 2020

Tubeless mounting: the tyre is difficult to mount on the rim. It pinches rather hard. Once the anti-puncture fluid is added, however, it remains well pressurised. What is noticeable is that the cheeks of the tyre are rather thin. As a result, liquid passes through the tyre in the form of small blisters. The tyre loses a little pressure after a few hours of standing still. Test ride: Once on the track, the tyre offers very good grip and feels light. However, after 10km of cycling, both tyres went completely flat. The front tyre almost rolled off the rim on a corner. After pumping some extra air, I was able to continue for a few km, but then unfortunately the same story. Conclusion: this tyre is not a TLR tyre! It stays roughly at pressure when not cycling, but once you start riding, it deflates. The ideal pressure is mentioned on the tyre: 1.8-2.5 bar, but at this low pressure it is definitely not possible to cycle with it.

Pros & Cons

Feels light
Good grip
Cannot be used at low pressure
Let through anti-puncture liquid
Not a TLR tyre
Sidewalls too weak

Too tight

- Michel, 29 October, 2020

There was no way I could get the tyres on my Miche rims. Not even after I heated them. Bicycle mechanic got it done in the end.

Poor sidewall resistance

- Nicolas, 29 September, 2020

I decided to give the Challenge TLR tires a try as I was happy with the open tubular clincher tires productions from Challenge. But I've been really disappointed by : - sidewall leakage (latex bubbles going through the sidewalls) - poor sidewall resistance as after a 30min cx training ride a super small hole appears in the tire's sidewall and the latex doesn't have been able to seal it... Not really happy with those tires and I would expect a little bit more "tubeless ready performances" from a tire tagged "TLR"...

Pros & Cons

All rounder
poor (low) sidewall resistance
thin sidewall resulting in leakage

Great tyre

- Gary, 28 January, 2020

Great tyre , rolls well . Not as grippy as a limus but for me not far off . Wears less than a limus on harder ground as the raised tread is closer together. All in all I like this as an all rounder except maybe a really muddy cross race or trail . At the moment I’m running a griffo on the back and a limus on the front and on the trails I’ve had no issues. Will definitely buy again.

Pros & Cons

Great price
Rolls well
Tubeless

5 / 5

Faultless

- Michael, 13 May, 2019

Amazing tyre , took a chance as it was hard to find many reviews , but have proved faultless. Tubeless wise they sealed straight away and I’ve had a few punctures out on the trails and only noticed when washing the bike off to find sealant on my frame . The side walls seem to leak a little sealant it it’s not an issue .

Pros & Cons

Good grip on corners
Puncture protection
Seals well
Inflates larger than 33 mm more like 35

4 / 5

Great value

- Giles, 21 February, 2019

Not going on my bike just yet but they were a bargain price so thought I’d get them before the price got bumped back up. The tyres themselves look well made and the sidewalls certainly look a lot thicker than the Vittoria terreno mix which I had on my bike last summer/autumn and was plagued with sidewall punctures.
