Basil Buddy MIK

Ideal for my French bulldog, which is a bit heavier than an average small dog anyway. The basket sits on the back of the bike and the dog has a simple harness, but gives just that extra reassurance. Occasionally, my dog does stand up. You notice this soon enough, but does not hinder, while cycling. Because the seat is attached to the back of the bike, it is much less cosy, but safer. And the dog can enjoy going everywhere.

The Basil basket meets my expectations, my dog weighs nearly 10kg and is well seated and supported for his safety. He's gradually getting used to being carried in the basket and is gaining confidence!

My little dog wasn't very reassured at the start of the ride but after 5 minutes she was quite at ease. In my opinion, the protective grid is essential to prevent the animal from accidentally falling off while we're cycling and it's also reassuring for the hairball. I'm delighted with my purchase. I'm off for some long rides...

This is already my second Buddy bike basket as the first one was damaged in a fall. I like the new colour better than the previous blue, somehow the feel is better. Functionality is - as always - excellent. The basket is easy to put on and take off. The dog is carried safely and comfortably. The basket is definitely worth the price!

I have it for a 6kg teckel and she is very happy on it. It was her first time on a bike and this basket really helped.

The Basil buddy is a great bike basket to transport the dog in. We have an adult French Bulldog (about 11kg), she is already on the large side for the basket but fits in just fine. She loves going on the back with us to the beach or the park. The Basil Buddy is easy to mount (especially when your bike has a MIK carrier), it is well attached and with a small action you can easily "click" the basket off the carrier when you no longer need it. Moreover, the basket is good and easy to clean, after each use we wipe the basket and cushion with a damp cloth. We do not use the metal top (to be ordered separately) as our dog is too big for this. As far as I am concerned, there are two points to highlight : the rim and the cushion. The edge of the basket is thin, so the dog cannot rest his/her head on it. This is also clearly visible in the photos but good to realise. In addition, it is good to know that the cushion (fine thickness as far as I am concerned) can be attached to the bottom with a piece of Velcro provided. This is a bit fragile but has not been a problem yet. We are very satisfied with the bike basket and use it regularly.

Plenty of room for our small dog, it sits nicely and has good visibility, the basket is easy to clean and easy to install and remove from the carrier. Mantel has both delivered a very nice bike basket and provided extraordinary customer service. I will be happy to return and give my best recommendations.

I had to mount the supplied MIK system on my existing MIK system wide luggage carrier with battery. The basket is far forward, against saddle. Can't mount it any other way. The legs under the basket are too deep to fit it without the supplied system.

Basil Buddy dog bike basket We bought a dog bike basket on Friday 13/8 and were very well helped with the purchase and the basket was fitted to the bike straight away by very friendly staff. This Mantel shop is definitely recommended!

Sturdy, strong and secure. Fits rear bike rack well and very straightforward and easy to connect. My puppy loves it! Would highly recommend!

It’s sturdy, well made - the straps and lead are secure and decently adjustable - the securing mechanism to the rack is clever but simple - add the space cage and it’s even more secure - really good - far superior to the cheaper bags n baskets I have tried before
