Description
The Zipp 202 Firecrest Carbon is developed with one goal: Top performance. Zipp started with the classic 202 - its legendary climbing wheel - and redesigned this wheel to a stiffer, lightweight, and more aerodynamic wheelset. This wheelset will get the best out of the rider.
The Zipp 202 Carbon Firecrest is the lightest wheelset out off the Firecrest series with a clincher of just 1380 gram and a tubular of 1140 gram . Just like its predecessor its rim depth is 32 mm, but thanks to the Fire Crest profile this rim 25.4mm on its widest points. Result? A classic "do-it-all 'wheel.
The Firecrest profile is characterised by an almost constant rim width, starting from its braking surface till its spoke bed. This results in more airflow control and improved aerodynamics. The Zipp 202 Carbon Firecrest is faster and more stable than other wheels with a similar rim depth.
The Zipp Carbon Clincher technology ensures excellent stopping power.
They apply a special kind of resin, inspired on materials used in the motorcycling world.
This rim can resist high temperatures that are released during braking.
The 188 / V9 rear hub is even more durable thanks to the use of larger bearings and a different way of lacing the spokes. Thanks to the different way of lacing, the rim feels rigid, and therefore has a better power transfer when you are standing straight up for the sprint or climb.
