Pros & Cons

Pros & Cons

  • Almost 2 mm thicker than the regular Vittoria Corsa G2, ensuring higher durability and puncture resistance.
  • The extra-thick compound on the tread makes this tyre ideal for courses with cobblestones and bumpy pavements.
  • The use of 4 different compounds creates a perfect balance between rolling resistance, traction, braking performance, durability and puncture resistance.
  • With this tyre you are slightly better protected against punctures than with the Corsa G2.
  • Excellent grip in dry and, particularly, wet conditions.
  • Due to the particular focus on durability and puncture resistance, the Corsa Control performs slightly less in terms of rolling resistance.

Description

Description

The Vittoria Corsa Control G2 road bike tyres are an excellent choice for tracks with cobblestone strips and bumpy pavements; they are a powerhouse in terms of puncture resistance and durability. Like Vittoria's other Corsa tyres, the Control G2 tyre features the Graphene 2.0 compound. With this Graphene 2.0 compound, Vittoria can adapt the rubber composition to the riding conditions. This includes an extra thick compound on the tread for optimal protection against punctures.

The Vittoria Corsa Control G2 tyre consists of 4 different compounds. The use of 4 different compounds creates a perfect balance between rolling resistance, grip, braking performance, durability and puncture resistance. The right compound is applied at the right place in the tyre. To date, Vittoria is the only racing tyre manufacturer that processes 4 different compounds in one tyre.

Vittoria's tyres are immensely popular in the professional peloton. You can see the tyres in the Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta, classics and various championships. It's not for nothing that many pro riders opt for Vittoria's quality.

Technology

For some years now, Vittoria has been making extensive use of the wonder material, graphene, in the production of its tyres. In 2019, Vittoria introduced the second generation of compounds: the Graphene 2.0 compound. In the Graphene 2.0 compounds, Vittoria uses 'functionalised graphene'. This means that graphene is processed in different quantities in the compound. The amount of graphene in the compound can vary between 1 and 10%. This allows the rubber composition to be adapted as needed. In this way, Vittoria is able to take the tyre's performance to a higher level in terms of speed, wet grip, durability and puncture resistance.

Weight:
• 25-622, 700 x 25c: 265 grams
• 28-622, 700 x 28c: 280 grams
The weights above have been provided by the manufacturer and may differ from the actual weight. The difference is usually small and caused by variations in the production process.

Materials
• Carcass: Cotton K 320 TPI
• Compound: 4C Graphene 2.0

Compatibility

Carbon rims
These Vittoria Corsa G2 road bike tyres are widely used in the pro peloton and are, therefore, suitable for carbon rims. However, we do recommend checking your rims before fitting the tyre. On some carbon wheels, the rim flange is too sharp. This edge is usually rounded off in the production process, but this is not always the case, and so the sharp edge can cut through the cotton carcass of this tyre.

Go-to band

- Bou 22 February 2024

2 road bike tyres are not cheap, but as far as I am concerned the control variant of the corsas are ideal. I used the non-control version once and suffered several punctures with it. You don't notice that little bit of extra rolling resistance, but you certainly don't notice punctures!

Pros & Cons

Good grip
Leakproof
Still good rolling resistance
Expensive

Excellent outer tyre

- Jos 3 December 2023

First time mounting a bit difficult (put some Vaseline on the last part of the rim). But then you have a fine, good rolling tyre on your bike. Highly recommended.

Pros & Cons

Good tread
Rolls well on all surfaces
Tight tyre when first fitted on rim

Perfect tyres for in the rain
After every ride, you have to polish the rim very well
