Description

Description

The Tacx Flux S Smart T2900S turbo trainer is known for its excellent price-quality ratio. It’s ideal for road cyclists and mountainbikers looking for a reliable trainer so they can keep training indoors.

The Flux S Smart trainer is the successor of the popular Tacx Flux T2900. Now that the shape of the Flux S has been adapted, it is also suitable for road bikes with a long cage derailleur. Also, the Tacx Flux S' motor has been further improved to make it even quieter during training sessions.

One of the quietest turbo trainers available
The Flux S Smart is one of he quietest trainers out there. Therefore, it is the ideal trainer to use in a noisy environment.

The Flux S Smart’s integrated power meter has an accuracy of up to 3 percent. This makes it ideal for cyclists who love to train with FTP, wattage and Watt/kg.

Wide range of training options
The Flux S Smart has a maximum resistance capacity of 1500 Watts. In addition, the Smart S can simulate inclines with a percentage increase of up to 10%. The electronic brake enables automatic adjustment of training resistance. This allows you to precisely simulate climbs for a very realistic experience.

Connecting to software and devices
With ANT+ and Bluetooth signals you can quickly and easily connect to other devices, applications and software. Thanks to the ANT+ FE-C protocol you can allow for the turbo trainer to be controlled by Tacx apps or third party apps like Zwift. The trainer can also be used stand-alone. When it's not connected to other devices or software, the Tacx Flux will simulate a level road.

The Tacx Flux S Smart T2900S is an excellent choice for cyclists who want to keep training during the winter months.

Technology

Internal Adjustments: The internal mechanics have been redesigned to improve bike feel and power measurement.
Accessible Trainer: The Flux S Smart is an accessible Direct Drive Trainer with a wide range of Smart functions.
Reliable and Accurate: Reliable, accurate and consistent power measurement is key to monitoring performance and progress. This is exactly what the Flux S is made to do- power measurements with a maximum deviation of 3 percent.
Completely connected: The Flux S Smart pairs wirelessly with ANT+ (FE-C) and Bluetooth Smart. This allows you to connect the bicycle trainer to your favourite applications quickly and easily.
Get started right away: You can also train on the Flux S Smart without being connected to software programs. Click in your bike, and you're ready to go.
Firmware updates: With the Tacx Utility app you can easily update the firmware to its most recent version. This way you can always use the latest improvements. You will receive an automatic notification when a new update is available.
Cycling feeling: The Flux S Smart is equipped with a 7 kilogram flywheel. This gives you a realistic cycling experience.
Very quiet flywheel: Like the earlier version of the Flux Smart, this trainer is also designed to minimise vibrations and noise. The Flux S Smart is one of the quietest bike trainers with a flywheel on the market.
Stable construction: A well balanced design ensures maximum stability, even in the most explosive sprints.
Connection Indicators: LED indicators on the side of the Flux S Smart indicate when its turned on and connected to a device via ANT+ or Bluetooth.

Tacx Desktop App Premium Account: Step into the world of virtual cycling environments with Tacx Desktop App Premium. This will make indoor training more fun than ever before. Ride famous racing classics, climbs and other special routes around the world. Compete against your friends or other participants for the podium places, ride the most beautiful routes and receive live data of your performance (cadence, speed and power). Training indoors has become more realistic than ever with the Tacx Desktop App Premium!

Virtual speed: To enable riders with mechanical brakes and electric brakes to compete against each other via Multiplayer, Tacx has developed virtual speed. This concept translates the delivered energy into a speed, to guarantee a fair competition. If this speed deviates from the rotation speed of the rear wheel, the display will show the virtual speed in red. This is a great feature to have when you are competing on Zwift or whilst training in TrainerRoad or Kinomap.

Frequently asked questions

Is my bike with disc brakes compatible with the Tacx turbo trainer?
Yes, disc brakes are no problem. However, it is important that the axle fits correctly. The trainer comes standard with adapters for 142x12 mm and 148x12 mm thru axle. These adapters have to be used in combination with your bike's thru axle.

Does the Flux S Smart come with standard cassette?
No, the cassette is not standard included when you purchase the Flux S Smart T2900S.

Which cassette do I need for my turbo trainer?
For smooth gear shifting, you will need the same type of cassette that is on your bike. Still, you'll need to know whether the cassette will fit your turbo trainer. To determine this, look at the brand of the cassette and the number of teeth. Does your bike have a Shimano or SRAM cassette? Does it have 8 to 11 sprockets? Then your cassette will fit on this trainer. Depending on the cassette, you will need to place a number of spacers on the body. Do you have a SRAM 12 speed cassette on your bicycle? Then you first need to install this SRAM XD(R) body on your trainer. Do you have a Shimano 12 speed cassette? Then you'll first need to install this Micro-Spline freehub body.

Is my Campagnolo bike compatible with this trainer?
Yes, the trainer is compatible with 9-12 speed Campagnolo groupsets. However, you will need to install this Campagnolo freehub body on your turbo trainer first.

What tools do I need to install a cassette on my turbo trainer?
To install your cassette, you will need a chain whip and a cassette removal tool. These tools can be found here. Learn more about cassette installation in this blog.

Which wheel sizes are suitable for this trainer?
Wheel sizes 28 and 29 are suitable for the Flux S Smart. If you have a smaller size wheel, you'll need a front wheel stand to use this trainer.

Totally happy with product

- Eric 17 March 2022

Factory settings of flywheel is not as expected. Without using Tacx's app, it pedals very heavily. With application of app it is fine, but this does force the buyer to subscribe. This does not come across as fair

Pros & Cons

Arrived neatly packaged
Easy to assemble
Good user manual is missing.
Had to look everything up on the internet
