Pros & Cons

  • Extremely lightweight, and the choice of many pro's.
  • Not two, but three bearings per pedal. This allows it to run smoothly and last longer.
  • Adjustable spring tension to determine how easy it is to (dis)engage the pedal.
  • The carbon body is more easily damaged in the event of an impact.
  • The price, though you do get a lot in return!

Description

The new Dura Ace 9100 pedals are based on the fantastic 9000 version, a true masterpiece by Shimano. These lightweight pedals -just 228 grams- use a carbon body which is connected to a Nickel-CrMo axle. The base of the pedal has a special steel plate designed to protect the carbon body from wear by the cleat. The Dura Ace pedal uses an additional needle-bearing in conjunction with the regular cup-cone bearings. This allows the pedal to spin even more smoothly.

Delivery includes

• Set of Dura Ace 9100 pedals
• Comes with SM-SH12 (blue, 2° float) cleats

Dura-ace perfection

As you would expect, these pedals are fantastic. They are very light (you can get lighter on other cleat systems) , the bearings are super slick and the pedal sits at the perfect angle to clip in every time. If you can justify the big jump from Ultegra, for the few grams you are going to save, then you won't regret it. Great service from Mantel, as ever.

Additional information

These Dura Ace 9100 SPD-SL pedals are alsa available in an edition with an extra wide 4mm axle. Extra convenient if you have a large shoesize and you sometimes hit the crank or rear fork with your feet with other pedals. Also convenient if you have wide hips or O-legs during cycling. 4mm extra space also fits former mountain bikers who are used to a wider Q-factor (distance between both cranks).
