Not clear difference between MTB and road bike

I chose this BB to replace Wheels BB30 Enduro Bearings Abec 3 because it protrudes from the bottom bracket frame and, because of this, the knurled edge at the ends of the Shimano 105 crank were mounted over the ball bearing cups, it always gave a scraping noise while cycling. This problem has been solved with this original Shimano BB, resulting in no squeaks and creaks.
