Worth a try....

- Christophe, 1 November, 2021

I was sceptical at first, but this tyre has a very good feel. It's not made for it, but it still gets through mud: surprising! Whether in rocks, dry, wet, hard, loose or greasy (or even muddy) ground, I was not disappointed. Snow coming soon ;) ...

Super fine tyre with very good grip and low rolling resistance.

- Deny, 10 May, 2022

Immediately noticed the difference, with rolling resistance. And the grip on sandy ground was also very good, especially when approaching a bend with loose sand, the tyre remained steady in steering, so no swaying when entering the bend. All in all, a perfect tyre especially and the Dutch forests. It also provides good grip on hard surfaces, thanks to the tyre's soft rubber and profile, and keeps good contact with the surface of almost every track.

Pros & Cons

Light weight.
Low rolling resistance.
Very good grip especially in corners with loose sand.

I rode the tyre with different pressures on different surfaces, but overall it disappointed me. I will switch back to Conti.

Really good XC tyre

- Shaun, 14 August, 2020

Bought these after using S-works tyres, massive improvement in speed, grip, comfort and the side walls aren't porous so your fluid doesn't dry up in a week. The side walls are thick enough that you can run 10-13 psi easy and the tyre still feels stable. Mantel are the best price by far.

Good band, have fun with it!

- Marcel, 14 January, 2022

Use this tyre for bikepacking. Often in rocky and desert areas (thorns) and for me this is the ideal tyre for that. Never had a puncture. I don't find the rolling resistance too bad. For the price, a very reliable, strong tyre.

Pros & Cons

Leakproof
Rolling resistance
Strong cheek

Recommended for MTB riders on the NL trails

- Jan Arend, 14 October, 2021

Fine hard-wearing mtb tyre. Almost all-round; only wet surfaces (mud, grass) are a little trickier. Very easy to put on. It is remarkable that the tyre seals tubeless very well even without milk. Of course, I did add some MucOff milk :-)

Pros & Cons

flexible to fit
good fit
seals tubeless instantly

Great fast XC tyre

- Dave, 14 September, 2020

Great XC tyre for summer or hard pack surface all year. Low rolling resistance and weight, good grip for this type of tyre. Use for racing and XC on rear of hardtail and full suss bikes. Easiest tubeless set up ever. Put in a tube for an hour in warm weather, wiped rim with washing up liquid, then it sealed tubeless immediately with just a track pump on a DT Swiss rim.

Grip
Low resistance

What a tyre!

- Simon, 18 January, 2021

I was already familiar with the tyre on a 26". Having just bought a new mountain bike and fitted it with an inner tube, I decided to put my trust in Maxxis again with the Ikon. And of course, no disappointment! A real treat, great grip, climbs everywhere, makes you feel confident... And an extraordinary resistance! only positive! I highly recommend them!

- Alexander, 19 June, 2020

A bit of a loose fit on tubeless rim compared with other Maxxis tyres, but double rim tape and pulling tyre eventually got it inflated... Does the job

Super coat...

- Stefan, 24 August, 2020

Shipping from Mantel.com was super fast.... I ordered the Ikon for my Orbea Alma H10. The Alma is already equipped with the Ikon as standard, but in a slightly less good mix. This one, TR / Exo / 3C, rolls a lot easier. Perfect for me. I ride mostly in the dry. In our forest, the trails are rather sandy. So perfect for the slightly profiled Ikon. Occasionally I also ride on asphalt. It's great there too... For wetter trails, I would rather go for a coarser profile...

Solid-looking tyre that is easy to fit tubeless

- NIels, 25 May, 2021

Tyre looks solid and was very easy to put on the rim. One side on the rim, bit of liquid latex in, other side on, pump, plop, done. The tread makes quite a lot of noise on the paved road, but of course that's not what they are made for!

Nice rolling tyre

- Rob, 27 September, 2023

A wonderfully rolling tyre (I use this at the back). As I mainly cycle on road, forest trails and gravel (e-Mtb), this tyre is perfect. Lots of grip still and the tyre rolls nicely too. Makes some noise but Maxxis tyres do that anyway. Yellow logo we take for granted.

Pros & Cons

Easy to assemble
Ideal for forest paths

Stable tyre

- Patric, 28 July, 2020

Driven tubeless with Icon since 2015, sat on a pair of light Barzo on new bike, after 3 holes in the tyre, it became to order Icon again, of course with EXO The same pattern on the sides gives a good feeling in the curves, possibly an Ardent tyre in front if it is not a dirt road race!

Pros & Cons

Wonderful mtb tire, perfect tread for nice trails.

- Jan Arend, 4 July, 2023

Fine tire. Works well on the road, in the bid, on dirt roads, on Gelderland mountain bike trails and on rocky ground. A bit less fun in really muddy blubber, or rather fun :-) The tires do make a lot of noise. On asphalt, too often I think there is an off-road vehicle behind me.

- Ingmar, 5 June, 2021

Replaced my winter Ardents with these wider ( 2.35 instead of 2.25-inch ) Ikons. Big difference on the paved road in rolling resistance. Were airtight with a floor pump on the rim. And just a bit more comfort with the extra width. Fine and fast all-round tyres!

Tyre has good grip and rolls well.

- Pieter, 6 November, 2023

Fine bike tyre this went easily on the rim and also stays well pressurised when used tubeless. The rolling resistance of this tyre is also fine, although you do notice that accelerating the tyre requires a bit more power. I opted for the wider version of the tyre, making it a bit heavier. The width of the tyre gives extra comfort and good grip in wetter conditions in the woods.

Good all-round band for a decent price

- Jesper, 8 October, 2021

Initially ordered the "Forekaster 2.35" (as front tyre) icm "Ardent Race 2.35" (as rear tyre). This tread was too coarse for me. In the end, I returned the "Forekaster", put the "Ardent Race 2.35" to the front and ordered the "Ikon 2.35" to put at the back. Are easy to put on the rim (tubeless) The tyre feels familiar in dry weather. Wet conditions I have not yet had with this tyre. Previous tyres were "Specialized Fast Trak 2.20"
