Excellent brakes, great stoppng power!

- Simon, 3 August, 2020

Look a little less than premium at first glance but reckon they're more solid than they seem and they definitely grow on you when you realise how well they work! Also customisable with interchangeable levers, lever covers and caliper rings if you're into that sort of thing! Highly recommended on experience to-date.

Too delicate high maintenance

- Roy, 10 July, 2020

levers have little or no modulation, caliphers are delicate. tried to move the pistons and the hydraulic liquid started to leak from behind the pistons, bike engineer told me I may have broken the seals? I didnt even remove the brake pads. When they work they are acceptible, but certainly not worth the high price £144.00. I brought Shimano SLX at the same time a much better built brake.

Pros & Cons

caliper
no modulation

Brilliant, highly recommended

Better feel and stopping power compared to any SRAM brakes I’ve used. Easy to fit to bike, no bleeding necessary after shortening hoses

excellent brakes

- Christopher, 11 May, 2020

I've only tried shimano's XT M8100 brakes apart from these. My reason for the upgrade was because of modulation (or lack thereof) with the shimano brakes. For me, this is particularly evident on the rear brake while doing manuals / wheelies, and trail braking on the front. Installation was relatively easy - internal cable routing is not Magura's fault. Once the brakes were bedded in, the modulation increase was clearly evident. Overall power is not massively more than shimano xt, but that was not lacking in the first place.

Pros & Cons

flip flop design
look trick af (subjective obvs)
modulation
power
brake pads 'click' when
no switchmix for i spec EV
not much range in contact point adjustment
Storm HC rotors are noticeably heavy

Levers are very bad.

- Roy, 10 May, 2020

Brought these because the top riders downhill and trials use them. For the price the calpiper is superb the lever is not worth the money. I will be replacing the lever with a shimano saint or XT or SLX, there is no modulation , so much so that I have to use zip ties to get any bite, the lever is sofar away from the handlebar , when you pull the lever it comes straight to the bar pinching your remaining fingers. flimsy construction, I havent dropped my bike yet but I can see it will break easily, Very dissapointed because these are nmade for BMW bikes. I bet BMW bike levers are not made of carbofibre (plastic). Never again will I by magura levers what happened to the HS33 levers which are alloy and a better brake lever by miles.

Pros & Cons

caliper
lever travels too farr in the opposite direction
no modulation
using zip ties on £144.00 brakes

Feel great as new - bite adjustment a bit of gimmick

- Ioannis, 23 April, 2020

The brakes feel great, I followed the magura video on shortening the hose and lost no fluid at all. Its important to not over-tighen any of the bolts, especially on the lever. I really like the feel of these brakes, and prefer their feedback compared to my previous Guide R. Also very light which is a plus if you care about that. A bit dissapointed with the bite point adjustment, I can barely feel the difference. It may become more apparent once the pads are more worn. Something to note: There is a tiny metal bit holding the lever for openning up all the way until it meets the hose. This bit can brake very easily (its meant to apparently) and then the lever will move away from the bars when pushed. This is not a malfunction, and not something covered by warranty. Just a weird thing to be aware of.

Pros & Cons

Easy installation
Modulation
Powerful
bite-point-adjustment not great
