Not entirely convinced of the durability of this sensor

- Luc, 21 May, 2023

After six or so rides, I get the signal that the battery is low. Installed around March 10, today replaced the battery with a new battery. Result no more operation of sensor, led lights no longer respond to magnet. The Duotrap does not close completely against the frame the tail of the sensor points about 3 degrees towards the spokes. Can be remedied by removing the rubber sealing ring around the sensor. During bike rides it gave an impression of accurate operation speed and cadence.

Excellent sensor, fragile installation

- Jeroen, 1 January, 2023

Sensor readings work as expected, cadence band was somewhat of an awkward fit. The sensor is only connected with a single bolt, weirdly enough, which seems a bit of a weak connection.

Pros & Cons

Easy installation
Linking went smoothly
Sensor is connected using only a single, flimsy bo

The Bontrager Duotrap S attached to my diamond 137 gravel bike. Cumbersome mounting. When changing the battery, the complete sensor must be removed. Works with my Garmin Edge 810.

Easy to install.

- Maryline, 28 October, 2021

Easy to install in the dedicated space. However, the sensor tends to pop out as soon as the screw is tightened, and the gasket seems ill-suited. Perhaps it depends on the type of frame...

Compatible with Trek range

Good working device

- Evert, 11 January, 2021

Installation took some looking around. Didn't find the manual super clear. But once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy. Pairing with the Garmin also went fine. Nice magnet holder on the pedal (and 3 choices of thickness). I find the screw of the magnet to the spoke quite long. This makes it run pretty close past the sensor.

Pros & Cons

beautiful design
easy to pair with garmin
nice magnet holders for cadence
manual could be clearer
screw a little too long for magnet of the spokes

The Duotrap stops working after two years. Battery replaced and reinstalled but unfortunately no more cadence/speed measurement. The red and green lights are on. What now?

- Peter, 3 August, 2020

Works perfectly. Attaching in the intended frame holder goes easily, however, it does not seem as tight as I imagined. Holds but flawlessly, even on bumpy roads.

works fine, but note

- Erwin, 21 July, 2020

The whole thing works fine. And neatly tucked away. But do NOT select "cadence sensor" from your Garmin. Because then it will be found, but it does not work. Select "cadence/speed sensor". Then it will find it under a number instead of a name, but it will work.

Pros & Cons

nicely concealed
by using 1 screw it can get skewed
