The Park Tool Polylube is a high-grade assembly grease specially engineered for maintaining and repairing bicycles.
This assembly grease prevents creaking and rusting and is water-repellent. This grease is also usable in combination with carbon parts.
The tube is threaded, which makes it compatible for use with a grease gun.
Assembly paste is not transparent as it contains small ceramic particles. This keeps screws tight while still being able to eventually loosen it. Carbon paste is for carbon, which is more vulnerable to over-tightening. The carbon paste ensures that your parts remain securely fastened, even with low tightening torques. There is also grease that is specifically intended for rotating parts and sealing against water and dirt. You can also use this to mount your parts, but it does not provide extra grip like the assembly paste and carbon paste.
How do I use carbon pastes?
Assembly grease should be applied to the component to be assembled and to the threads of bolts, if the component in question is carbon, then carbon paste should be used, otherwise ordinary assembly grease will do. You can apply it with a brush, directly from the tube or just with your fingers. In principle, you use carbon paste on all bolts with a thread and are most used on (carbon) stems and (carbon) seatposts. Re-apply when you have loosened a component. It is also advisable to loosen the parts once in a while, clean them and apply new paste.
