The Oakley Jawbreaker Photochromic can be considered the ultimate cycling glasses in both performance and design. The creation of the Oakley Jawbreaker came about by accident however. During a casual dinner between Mark Cavendish and the Oakley design team, 'Cav' mentioned that he was looking for a new type of cycling glasses. He wanted the fit and protection of a Racing Jacket but the type of lens and convenience of a Radarlock. Oakley set about designing the new glasses and -after many iterations- came up with the Jawbreaker. Glasses which are all about improving and enlarging your field of view and ventilation while offering maximum safety for your eyes. The combination of the best properties from the Racing Jacket and Radarlock glasses make the Oakley Jawbreaker into the ultimate cycling glasses.

Very impressed so far

I initially purchased a pair of Oakley Radar cycling glasses, which I sent back due to peculiar airflow around the outer aspect of the glasses resulting in eye irritation. The Oakley Jawbreakers have a larger lens and feel like they provide better protection from the wind. The lens seems of very high quality and the arm length adjustability is a nice feature. I often wear aftershokz bone conduction headphones and the arm adjustability ensures a comfortable fit. I am unable to fully comment on the photochromic aspect of the lens due to minimal requirement for a darker lens during autumn in the UK.

These Oakley Jawbreaker Photochromic sungalsses are absolutely Brilliant!!

I've always used very good sunglasses for driving in my car long distances in South Africa and the UK (Serengeti Drivers and Maui Jim) I cycle long distances 400-500km /week (Audax), and wanted proper cycling sunglasses. After much research on cycling forums, I pulled the trigger on the Oakley Jawbreaker Photochromic. I've been using these daily for a few weeks now and these are Brilliant! .... The best way that I can describe them, is that it always feels like you are riding in overcast conditions irrespective of the light situation (not too dark and not too bright) .... when cycling under canopies of dense trees etc, the lenses change almost instantly so you don't have to whip the sunglasses off your face to see where you are riding. The fit is very comfortable and I have also used these when the sun sets. I highly recomend these. The nice thing is that you can buy additional lenses such as the Oakley Jawbreaker Prizm road if you wish to use sunglasses for very bright days.

Comfy and I can see when I'm trying for streamline

Awesome glasses for cycling. My old glasses had the top bar in direct eye-line when leaning forward for aerodynamics. These show nothing but what's ahead. A bit large for casual wear but great for activity.

Excellent cycling glasses

I’ve always had problems with glasses touching my eyelashes and also with reduced field of view. The Jawbreaker glasses completely solve both these problems. You forget they’re on your face, not needing any adjustment once fitted. They also react fantastical well to changing light. Only slight issue is glare can be a problem.

Detailed product description

For the Jawbreaker, Oakley took a closer look at how users were looking through their lenses. This information has lead to a 40% increase in your field of view when compared to other cycling glasses. There's a special Jawbreaker lens for all different conditions. This Oakley Jawbreaker Photochromic comes with a photochromic lens. This transitional lens makes it suitable for virtually all conditions. It has a light transmittance of between 23 and 69%. The lens is suitable for both sunny and cloudy days.

Plutonite Lens Material

One of the most optically pure materials used in modern glasses. The material ensures a clear view of what’s ahead and is capable of withstanding almost any impact. The lens filters out 100% of all UVA, UVB, UVC, and harmful blue light frequencies up to 400 nm. There’s no separate coating on the lens. Rather, the lens itself is what offers protection from UV rays.

The Switchlock system allows you to easily and quickly swap lenses!

Field of View

Special optimised lens for cycling. The largest challenge was creating a lens that has a certain shape and size without the frame obstructing your view. This appeared a tough one, because during cycling you often have your head down, while you are looking up. But with this lens Oakley offer a field of view that is as large as necessary without blind spots.

Impact resistant frame material that can handle the most extreme of conditions. This material is super light but incredibly durable. Controlled flexibility increases the impact resistance and also helps improve comfort.

Impact Protection

After decades of innovation, Oakley Performance glasses offer an incredible level of no-compromise protection against high speed- and heavy impacts. The protection comes from the use of high-grade materials and the unique Oakley lens/frame design combination.

Fit & Protection

A good fit means better results and protection. The combination of the flexible, durable O-matter material with the Plutonite lenses guarantee maximum protection in all conditions!

Thanks to the special “surge” ports, the air is channelled over the lenses to prevent them from fogging up. This way these glasses better meet the wishes of their users.

Adjustable stems

Thanks to the adjustable earpieces, these glasses have 3 possible settings so fit perfectly.

HDO stands for High Definition Optics, which in turn refers to the curvature of the lens itself. This curvature matches the natural curve of your eyes, ensuring you’ve always got a crystal clear and distortion-free view.

Photochromic lens

The Photochromic lens technology automatically darkens the lens when the amount of UV light increases. It automatically adapts back to a lighter shade when conditions change and become more overcast. Even the lighter lens will still offer 100% UV protection.

Type of Oakley Photochromic Lens

Oakley Clear Black Iridium Photochromic

The Oakley Jawbreaker Clear Black Iridium Photochromic lens is, because of its 23-69% light transmittance range suitable for varying weather conditions. With 23% it’s fine to ride in the sun, but with 69% also in cloudy weather. If you ride on cloudy days, the lens is transparent, in the sun it’s dark grey. This way it doesn’t look neutral on the outside, but also on the inside. You keep the transparent look on the inside also when it’s at its darkest. It can change in 10 seconds from the lightest to the darkest transmittance. Perfect when you use it to ride in the woods. The Oakley Jawbreaker Clear Black Photochromic lens is the perfect lens for the rider who rides in varying weather conditions.
