The Northwave Magma XC Core are MTB shoes for men who like to brave cold winter rides. These cycling shoes guarantee exceptional thermal insulation and breathability. This keeps your feet warm and comfortable even in extremely cold conditions. The fit is easy to adjust and the high collar offers surprisingly good protection and mobility. Thanks to the reinforced sole, power transmission on the pedals is improved.
The Northwave Magma XC Core features Primaloft gold insulation. This material is widely used in outdoor clothing and was originally developed for the US military. Primaloft is extremely lightweight and is known for its excellent thermal insulation. This is thanks to special fibres that retain body heat in small pockets. This allows mountain bikers to face even freezing temperatures. Furthermore, these MTB shoes for winter offer light protection against water and wind.
Overlapping upper and SLW3 twist closure
The Northwave Magma XC Core has been given an overlapping upper. This distributes the closing pressure evenly and comfortably over the foot. The chance of annoying pressure points is thus much reduced. You can adjust the closing pressure/fit very well via the SLW3 rotary closure. A simple turn of the knob is enough to make small, very precise adjustments to the fit.
Carbon-reinforced sole
Improved power transfer on the pedals is provided by the Jaws Carbon Reinforced sole. As the name suggests, this sole is carbon reinforced, resulting in a stiffness index of 8.0. The natural rubber heel provides excellent grip on any surface.
Reflective inserts
The Northwave Magma XC Core MTB shoes are equipped with 360° reflective inserts. This makes you more visible to your fellow road users. This way, these cycling shoes come with a bit of extra safety.
In order to help you, as best we can, to choose the right size shoe we have measured all the shoes ourselves. All that's left for you to do is measure your own foot length, and we'll tell you which shoe size per brand suits you best. Does your foot length in mm not appear on the relevant product's page? Then that particular shoe is not available in a size that suits your foot length.
You can easily measure your foot length using an A4 sheet of paper, placed on the floor against a wall. Stand with one foot on the piece of paper, with your heel against the wall. Draw a line above your big toe (or above the index toe if that is longer). Now mark your other foot on the paper in the same way. Measure both - the measurement of your longest foot is your foot length in mm's! Please note: some manufacturers have their own measuring system, and as a result what appears on the shoebox can deviate from what we have measured.

So far done 2 rides of 2 hours at around freezing. After 2 hours still no cold toes! But no very warm feet either. I definitely recommend them! In colder weather there is still plenty to tweak with thermal socks and extra overshoes.
