Mavic Aksium Road Bike Wheels

The Mavic Aksium wheel is Mavic's entry-level model. Mavic has especially thought about the driving characteristics and versatility of these road bike wheels. The Mavic Aksium wheels are bombproof and are unrivalled in their price-quality ratio.

The wheels are equipped with straight pull spokes that are very strong and rigid. The rims are wider, this provides improved comfort but also that you can choose from tyres up to a width of 32 mm. The hubs have an incredible durability without the need for quick maintenance.

Mavic Care
With Mavic Care you can extend the warranty to 3 years by registering your purchased wheel set on the Mavic website within 30 days. It also activates the possibility of crash replacement so you can get up to 40% discount on a similar product. You are eligible for this if your wheel can no longer be repaired after a fall or collision.

MyMavic app
The MyMavic app (available from the App Store and Google Play) gives you advice on the right tyre width and pressure, tailored to your rim width and the surface.

Technology

(FTS-L) Force transfer system light
Reinforcement of significant components: The contact point between the pawl and the hub is reinforced with 2 stainless steel inserts, which ensures that a 100% aluminium body can be used.

(QRM) Qualite de Roulements Mavic
Mavic only uses high-quality sealed bearings. On wheels with QRM, double-sealed 2RS bearings with low rolling resistance are used.

(UB Control) Unisé gross control
The braking surface is machined with high-precision CNC. This improves pad engagement and prevents vibration during braking.

(H2) Hammer Hardening
Local reinforcement of the rim at the point where the spokes are subjected to the most significant forces. It improves rim durability. And makes the rim tear-resistant.

Assembly

• Cassette removal tool

Mounting a cassette on a wheel is easy if you have the right tools at your disposal. If you purchase a cassette removal tool with Shimano fit, you can mount both Shimano and SRAM cassettes on your rear wheel. If you have a 9/10-speed cassette, first slide the supplied spacer over the body. Then place the cassette on the body. This is only possible in one way due to the fit that this body has. Finally, turn the washer neatly straight on by hand and then tighten it again with the cassette tool. Tight is tight is the general rule, but if you want you can also do this with a torque wrench to be more certain of the tightening torque.

User tips

• Pay attention to directionality when mounting tyres.
• For 9/10-speed, don't forget to install the spacer first before installing the cassette.
• Make sure that the rim tape is properly positioned in the rim bed.
