Responsiveness
The processor has been improved dramatically compared to the Garmin Edge 520. It calculates the route twice as fast as its predecessor, and is generally much faster to operate while the responsiveness of the buttons has also been improved. The 2,6" (6.6 cm) clear colour display is easy to read in sunny conditions.
Extended battery life and water resistance
The battery life of the Garmin Edge 530 has also been improved significantly and is now up to 20 hours. If you switch to Battery Save mode you can use it up to 40 hours. The Edge 530 has an IPX7 water rating, which means it is protected against the worst weather conditions. Are you going to ride in pouring rain for several hours? No problem. The Edge 530 keeps the water out while submerged up to 1 metre for 30 minutes.
Live Track and Strava Live Segments
The developers of the Garmin Edge 530 have equipped it with a great number of 'smart' functions. For a connection with your smartphone or the internet, the Garmin has Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. After connecting to your smartphone, you can use the Smart Notifications to be informed of any incoming calls or Emails during your ride. In addition, you can share your location with anyone at home through LiveTrack. Are you going for a long ride? Use Weather Alerts to know if a rain shower is coming your way. It is also possible to display Strava Live Segments. Are you an avid MTB rider? Then the Trailforks app and MTB Dynamics function are indispensable for your ride.

A wonderfully convenient and beautiful navigation device with lots of features.
As of September 2012, I have been using the Garmin GPS 62 ST used. Both with cycling and hiking. Creating routes myself and entering existing routes. This 62ST I now use only for hiking. So time for renewal. The choice was this Edge 530 with many features. To get a good overview, I first printed the manual on both sides. It is 74 pages. But very pleasant when you are getting to know the Edge 530. I only use it for navigation. And what goes with that. My homemade routes, which I save on the computer in Base Camp, I can put into the Edge 530 that way. I use "Routiq", (formerly Route.nl) to create my own routes. Mainly via junctions. If you ride a certain route on your Edge 530 and you are not at the starting point, it navigates you nicely to the route. I don't use the training program with everything that goes with it. But I have seen that you have a very beautiful device, if that is important to you. Lots of possibilities. If you read the manual carefully, you will see what other nice things you can use. If you buy this Edge, (which is obvious after my review) I wish you a lot of fun with it.

Top product
Meets the (high) expectations. Took a while to figure out how the controls work, but that was quickly mastered. Cycled a few times, and works very well.
