Description

Description

The Fouriers BR-S005 are made for the Giant Propel and Giant Envie bikes, the same bikes used by pro's like Marianne Vos or Marcel Kittel. These brakes were also fitted to stage-winning bikes in the 2014 Giro D'Italia and Tour de France. Aerodynamic frames demand aerodynamic brakes. After all, if you can go faster, you need to be able to stop faster as well! Fouriers brakes are A-grade equipment and meet the demands of the riders in the pro peloton.

Difference with the BR-DX005 is the manufacturing. The BR-S005 is forged aluminium, the BR-DX005 was milled with a computer numerical control (CNC).

Expensive, but good upgrade

- Rene 11 July 2018

I have bought these for my Giant propel SL3 (2014). The original brakes were not compatible with my new wheels which have a rim width of 24 mm. Although there was enough room, I could not get the brake pads aligned with the brake surface of the wheels because the adjustment hole of the brake pads was too narrow. With the new Fourier brakes, plenty of space is present for adjustment. Setting up is easy and I would suggests replacing gear cables as well. The delivery was fast, even for abroad deliveries (Ireland). Overall great product but a bit pricey. Also, the box didn't mention whether the brake pads are suitable for carbon brake surfaces.

Pros & Cons

Delivery
Easy to setup
plenty of room for adjustments
Supports wide rims

Excellent upgrade from the TRP SL Ti proprietary brakes.

- Marc 20 March 2018

I broke one of the TRP SL Ti brakes on my Propel SL & so the obvious choice was to replace the lot with the Fouriers. (My wife thinks I broke it on purpose!) I had read that the Fouriers were only a noticible upgrade from the pre-2015 TRP equivalent & not the later TRP SL Ti versions............I beg to differ! The Fouriers are superb by comparison! Ease of set up, stronger tension springs, better modulation & much more powerful braking! I should have broken my TRP ones sooner!

Pros & Cons

Better modulation
Ease of set up
More powerful braking
Stronger tension springs
A tad expensive, but hey, you get what you pay for

my giant propel sl 2014 had brakes that as well as being not great wouldnt allow 25mm tyres and the fouriers are much more responsive easier to adjust and fit 25mm tyres so alls good

Pros & Cons

adjust easily
fit wider tyres
look quality

Really well manufactured parts, that give me the clearance to run 25mm tyres on the propel.
