Description
The Fizik Antares R1 Open zadel has been designed with the so-called Chameleons in mind. According to Fizik, the Chameleon is a rider with a fairly flexible spine. The Antares R1 Open is a mix of the Arione and Aliante when it comes to the shape. The saddle offers great support in all positions.
Saddle shape
This saddle has a semi-round rear part which makes it perfect for those who move around a little with their hips while riding. A semi-round saddle provides ample support while also offering enough freedom to move around, and more so than a flat saddle.
Flexibility
This is a semi-round saddle, which means it's flat at the front and raised slightly in the rear. The shape makes it suitable for people with a fairly flexible spine. This has to do with the rotation of your pelvis. For instance, when you're upright you might need a little extra support, but when rotating forward to ride on the drops you're fine.
Cut-out
This saddle has a cut-out and alleviates pressure for those who often experience discomfort or pressure to their soft tissue areas.
Technology
Carbon Braided railsThe carbon braided rails are saddle rails which are made of carbon fibres and wrapped into a carbon mat for more stiffness and to keep the saddle in place.
ICS: Integrated Clip System
At the back of the saddle, you can attach a tail light or a saddle bag (comes without light/saddle bag).

Super saddle
Super good saddle. I have previously had to spend hundreds of kilometres to replace a saddle, but not with this one.

Nice, sleek, but unfortunately not comfortable for me
Nicely used the decision aid from mantle to hopefully arrive at a better and more comfortable saddle. This is 1 of the saddles in the test, but unfortunately is no improvement over the saddle I'm using now. A pity, because in terms of design I thought it was progress. Comfort wins out over looks unfortunately.

At last a saddle I am comfortable on both on road Amd on turbo trainer, great rail adjustment fore and aft. The 30 day no-quibble try and ride service from Mantel is super, it took me a few saddles before finding the right product, all helped with the help of the Mantel online fitting system. Mantel will be my go to place for all orders in the future.

My bum thanks me
Rode this saddle on several 3+ hour rides and it hasn't concerned me once. It feels great with the channel. It does have a slightly hard feeling on your bum but with a decent chamois you won't notice it at all. I highly recommend this saddle to anyone looking for something, robust, lightweight and with a channel. I also chose this saddle because of the quality construction. The saddle is solid. The rails are strong too. I was worried about carbon rails as I had never used them but they are sturdy. Don't sit down on it though whilst going over potholes!
