SKS Velo S42

I'll start of by saying that I don't have a lot of experience with mudguards. Bought some standard guards at my local hardware store for my previous bike, which was a quite heavy mountain bike. My new bike is a hybrid/road bike that only weighs 8.5 kilo. Since I payed a lot of money on a lightweight bike I didn't want to make it heavier by adding heavy equipment on it. So I searched the internet far and wide for lightweight mudguards. These were advertised as only 170 gram so I naturally bought these. Problem is that the mudguards weigh more than that. The mudguards themselves weigh 185 gram, which is OK. But the hardware to mount them weighs 283 grams making the total unit weigh 468 grams. If I knew that I would have bought another set but it's not the end of the world. They are nicely adjustable, meaning you can choose which curve you want them to have and how much gap you want to have between the wheel and the guard. They also have a quick release function that disconnects the rods if a large object gets stuck between the wheel and guard. They can be snapped back easily without the need of tools. So it's a nice set of mudguards but weighs more than advertised.
