Description

Description

The Sram GX Eagle rear derailleur is provided with the same fantastic technologies as the twice as expensive XX1 Eagle derailleur. The only difference is the use of aluminium instead of carbon. With the larger 12-speed cassette the cage is also a bit longer and the lower jockey pully has 14t instead of 12. The Roller Bearing clutch is sophisticated and delivers a constant power throughout.

Assembly

Tightening and loosening the gear cable
To loosen and tighten the bolt that attaches the gear cable to the derailleur, you will need a 5 mm Allen key. These can be found here.

Disassembling the chain
Before you can remove the derailleur, you must remove the chain. How to do this you can read here. For this you need a chain rivet tool, which you can find here. Make sure you get the right brand and number of speed.

Use assembly paste to mount
When you mount your new rear derailleur, you should put some assembly paste on the threads of the derailleur pad. You can buy this from here.

Mounting derailleur pulleys
To fit derailleur pulleys you need a 2.5 mm or 3 mm Allen key. A handy Allen key can be found here.

User tips

A crooked derailleur hanger?
A common problem is a warped derailleur hanger. This can be caused by the derailleur coming into contact with something hard, for example during a fall. Fortunately, this can be repaired! Find out more here.

Make sure you clean your derailleur pulleys too!
Like the chain, derailleur pulleys get very dirty. This makes for a less enjoyable ride and doesn't help with the durability of your drivetrain. Therefore, when cleaning the chain and / or oiling the chain, it is advisable to also clean the derailleur pulleys. Do this by gently turning the chain while you run a cloth along the derailleur wheel. However, at some point the derailleur wheels will be worn out. Visit our blog to find out when to replace your derailleur pulleys and which ones you need.

Sram GX Eagle derailleur, the one for you!

- Vincent 26 February 2024

The derailleur shifts gears perfectly, whether climbing or in the final sprint. The GX Eagle derailleur delivers on all these promises with a redesigned clevis architecture that improves chain management. Redesigned to work with the new 10-52-tooth cassettes, it's also backwards compatible with the 10-50-tooth versions. A product that perfectly meets my expectations, and at a price that can't be beaten at Mantel.

Very good product that I highly recommend

- Charles-Lucien 14 February 2024

I changed the transmission on my mountain bike from Shimano to Sram. The difference is obvious. With sram, the gears change more quickly and more precisely. Installation and adjustment are quick and easy. With the SRAM XG-1275 GX Eagle cassette, the combination is remarkable.
