With the Shimano 105 5800 shifters, Shimano took the Ultegra 6800 groupset as an example. The somewhat ungainly 10-speed 105 shifters became a lot slimmer at the 105 5800 groupset. Thanks to the polymer-coated cables and short movement of the lever the gear switch goes a lot smoother. Via an adjusting screw you turn the levers to 10 mm closer to the handlebar, ideal for people with small hands.
