MTB Pedals

MTB pedals are indispensable for your rides in the woods. Mountain bike pedals provide a good connection between your foot and the crank to optimise your power delivery. With MTB pedals you can clip in on both sides, which is particularly useful for mountain bikers who clip in and out more often than road cyclists. The Shimano SPD pedals are the most popular mountain bike pedals.

MTB Pedals | Clipless & flat | Shimano SPD & more

Mountain biking continues to gain popularity, and we see a growing number of mountain bikers tearing through the woods. Many new MTBs come with traditional pedals, but mountain biking really only gets to be super fun when you use clipless pedals. At first the feeling of being stuck to your pedals may be scary, but in time the advantages outweigh this initial hesitation. When clipped in, you can put much more power into your pedals, and so with MTB pedals you go much faster!

Which types of MTB pedals are there?

Mountain bike pedals come in many shapes and sizes. Which type you should choose depends on your personal preference. Essentially, our MTB pedals can be divided into three categories: With clipless MTB pedals you clip your MTB shoes into the pedals. The best known MTB clipless pedals are Shimano's SPD pedals. Flat pedals are for those who do not want to be clipped in but do want to have as much grip as possible and to be able to put their foot on the ground easily. For those who want the best of both worlds, Shimano offers SPD Combination Pedals. These mountain bike pedals can be used with and without clipping in.

Which cleats come with my MTB pedals?

Shimano SPD pedals come with Shimano SM-SH51 SPD cleats with 0 degrees of float. Crankbrothers MTB pedals come with Premium cleats with 15 degrees of float. Time MTB pedals come with Time Atac cleats with 13/17 degrees of float. Look MTB pedals come with Look X-Track cleats with 6 degrees of float.

Which brand produces the best MTB pedals?

The mountain bike pedals we offer in our webshop are all of a very high quality, regardless of the brand. Each brand offers pedals of different qualities, which is reflected in the price. The more expensive MTB pedals are much lighter and more durable. There are many different brands of MTB pedals, including the following:
