26 air vents and Roc Loc Air Fit System for optimal ventilation
The 26 air vents incorporated in the Synthe give it a superb ventilation system. Additionally, the Aero Mesh panels have small holes in them to further improve ventilation. At the heart of the helmet is the RocLoc Air Firt system. This system raises the helmet fractionally above your head, creating enough space for air to flow through. This system also allows you to adjust the tension on the head band as well as the forward/aft tilt.

Great fit
My only criticism is the very thin brow pad, which allows sweat to drip down. I swapped in a Bontrager Ballista pad. Now the helmet is 10/10.

Excellent lightweight helmet for hot weather
The Giro Synthe MIPS is an excellent helmet all round but is especially airy for those hot days. It's a little too airy for colder days and long speedy descents but you can always wear a cap on those occasions.

Quality and comfort
Love the fit of the Synth, you forget it's even there it's so light. Airflow isn't that noticeable, but I've certainly not overheated so it must be more than adequate. The sweatband at the front is good quality and comfy.I hope I'm never able to review how it protects my head.

The MIPS System exists out of a low friction interlayer between the EPS lining and padding with an elastic fixation. This allows the helmet to move (slide or rotate) during a crash. It will move around your head to catch the side and rotational forces that could occur during a crash. This in contrast to a helmet without MIPS, whereby the impact is only collected by compressing the EPS lining.
Roc Loc Air Fit system:
The Giro Roc Loc Air system is specially developed for the Giro Airo helmets. This new system ensures the helmet floats a little bit above your head. As a result there is a good airflow over the top of your head what ensures a good ventilation. Just like the Roc Loc®5 system the helmet can be easily fine-tuned. The tension around the head and the vertical position can be adjusted with one hand. With this Giro sets the new standards for ventilation and comfort.
Wind Tunnel Ventilation:
Giro helmets are developed using its Giro Wind Tunnel ventilation system. This system combines the active vents with the internal ventilation outlets. This combination ensures a cool, fresh air flow over and around the riders head, while forcing the heat and stale out. The renewing of these ''air channels'' turns out to be a huge success. The riders were real enthusiastic, they noticed the new ''air flow'' around their head, resulting in a better cooling!!
In-Mold Construction:
The In-Mold Construction combines a strong polycarbonate outer shell with
shock absorbing helmet padding. Thanks to its fusion process it is possible to sculpt a better ventilation system, so the In-Mold helmets are lighter and cooler than most traditional helmets.
X-static Padding:
Besides the fact they are comfortable The X-static pads ensure anti-microbial properties to keep your helmet longer clean . The pads are machine washable.
