Description
The Grand Prix 5000 TL is the tubeless version of the Grand Prix 5000 road bike tyre. Despite the use of the same technologies in both models, there are still a few differences. Due to the lack of an inner tube and the use of less material, the tubeless version has 5 percent less rolling resistance and an improved puncture resistance of 5 percent compared to the clincher version.
A perfect balance between rolling resistance and grip.
The carcass of the Grand Prix 5000 TL consists of a 180tpi, 3-layer build. This way Continental has picked the perfect balance between easy mounting and firm fastening on the rim. The updated version of Continental’s Black Chilli Compound ensures an optimal balance between the rolling resistance and grip. Thanks to the ‘Lazer Grip technology’, the shoulders on the tread of the Grand Prix 5000 TL have been roughened. This way the GP 5000 TL has the best grip when turning. Furthermore, this technology improves the air flow around the tyre for better aerodynamics.
Improved puncture protection and high comfort.
The Continental GP 5000 TL also has an updated version of Continental’s Vectran anti-puncture strip. This extra inner layer offers an improved protection against punctures. Continental is thus making a significant contribution to the durability of the new Grand Prix tyres. Finally, the tyre is equipped with an Active Comfort layer. As the name suggests, Active Comfort ensures a high level of driving comfort. The ‘Active Comfort layer’ has shock-absorbing properties and reduces vibrations caused by the road surface without impacting rolling resistance. Because of this, the Grand Prix 5000 TL ensures a comfortable ride with optimal rolling resistance.
With that said, Continental introduces a new heir to the throne: the Grand Prix 5000 TL!
Technology
Black Chilli CompoundA secret recipe used for blending the best compound by Continental yet. The soul of the tyre, as they call it at Continental. A blend of basic raw materials which determine rolling resistance and grip. Tyres fitted with the Black Chilli Compound represent the best Continental has to offer: high levels of grip and low rolling resistance.
LazerGrip technology.
Continental has laser processed the edges of the Grand Prix 5000. The laser profile adapts itself optimally to the road surface. This gives you increased grip in the turns. At high speeds and wet conditions you really feel the difference!
Active Comfort
A shock-absorbing layer is applied under the skin. This Active Comfort layer dampens shocks and vibrations from the road surface. The increased comfort allows you to stay in an aerodynamic position for a longer period of time. This gives you an unparalleled riding experience.
Vectran Breaker-layer.
The Vectran Breaker layer is an anti-leak protective layer under the tread. This strip prevents sharp stones, twigs and glass splinters from penetrating the tire and reaching the inner tube. With this anti-leak strip you can enjoy increased puncture protection.

Makes for a good ride
Pros & Cons

Super smooth and fast, ace
Super happy with the GP5000, an even better upgrade as used GP4000 on previous bike which were good. Going tubeless as well made these even better, they ride so smooth, feel confident and grippy but only had dry rides so far. Fitting was a little tighter than normal TIRE, but sealed up first try, cool. I bought 32c and fitting to wider RIMS measured 32mm. Playing with tyre pressures 60psi rear & 55psi front was best and comfortable on road and still fast. I'm now gaining just over 1mph on my average ride speed. That might be more the new bike but sure helped by the GP5000 over the original Giant brand fitted which felt a bit hard
Pros & Cons

Sporty and tough
The tyres have performed very well, though at the stated pressures (around 65-70PSI tubeless) they are pretty firm - I have heard they can be run at much lower pressures for an easier ride. They were tough to seat on my rims but that might vary with make of wheel. Overall, I'm very pleased with these tyres.

A bit Pricey, can be tight fitting but definitely my go to "Tubeless Road Tyre" of choice
I have fitted a dozen of these recently along with Vittoria air liners & Using Stans "No Tubes" Sealant... Superb once fitted but can be a tight fit, I use a soapy water solution to aid the mounting (Works well) virtually Bomb Proof Incidentally Mantels pricing & Deliveries are hard to beat I have purchased several items from Mantel & have found them "Faultless" in every aspect

Very happy, long term 4000 user so happy to go with this. Friends had good experience with wear so far, I've put on 1000km and fine so far
