Description
Avid Elixir disc brake pads are organic brake pads for SRAM disc brakes.
Organic brake pads are made of soft materials. These pads provide excellent control and good braking power. Due to its soft compound, this brake pad also grips quickly. In addition, the organic compound ensures that these brake pads make little noise.
A disadvantage organic brake pads have is that they don't handle the high temperatures which occur during long descents that well. Organic brake pads also wear out quicker if used often in muddy conditions.
In short if you mainly cycle in summer in a moderate climate these organic brake pads are the way to go. However, if you mainly cycle in winter, or if you regularly go to hilly/mountainous areas, then you'd better go for Semi-Metallic brake pads.
