The most comfortable saddle I've ever had

- Christophe, 8 May, 2023

The shape is simple yet sophisticated, and for me, who can't stand grooves in saddles, this one is perfect. It relieves pressure on the soft tissues and the ischiums are very well supported. What's more, you can sit on the front without any pain.

Pros & Cons

comfort
stable positioning
no mudguards

Good saddle when you have pain in 'your private area'

- Gertjan, 8 August, 2022

Distance seat bones measured. This was 11 cm so ordered a 130. Later swapped for the 140 and active. Sits perfectly now! No pain where it shouldn't be.

Pros & Cons

Does what it promises
Looks fast
Not a slot but a dimple

Top saddle for high comfort over longer periods

- Werner, 8 June, 2022

I have owned this saddle for 3 weeks now and have ridden 350 km with it. It does require some adjustment as the sitting position of this saddle is 0.5 to 1 cm higher than a regular saddle and the manufacturer also advises to position the saddle slightly more to the front. Meanwhile, with every ride it feels better, so you have to give the saddle some time to get used to. However, a measurement of the sit bones beforehand is recommended in order to order the correct saddle width. I have yet to test the active technology with the adjustment of the dampers, for the time being I ride with the average damping.

Pros & Cons

High ergonomics
Mantle test period 30-days
Does not feel super immediately
Exists only in black

Finally, a saddle that makes cycling a pure pleasure.

- Michael, 15 April, 2022

I have difficulty getting my bum used to saddles. Even after 500 km spread out over a number of weeks, it still starts to feel uncomfortable after half an hour of cycling. After some googling, I came across the SQlab 612, measured the distance between my sit bones and ordered a saddle. Already the first bike ride of just over an hour to work was a total pleasure. It didn't hurt my bum at all. The second bike ride home from work later that day was also a pleasure for the first time. However, I pedalled much harder than I used to (because my butt did not hurt) so I was still completely exhausted when I got home.

Saddle pain gone

- Olivier, 9 December, 2021

First I started with a prologo scratch M5. After severe saddle pain and a bikefit, I was recommended a selle italia flite boost. This was slightly better but I was not yet completely pain-free. Mantel's 30-day test programme persuaded me to give this ergowave 612 active a chance. After just under two weeks I was completely convinced. Finally no more saddle pain!

Pros & Cons

No more saddle sores
Not even saddle sore on smarttrainer

Comfort, but grant it a few weeks.

- René, 22 October, 2021

I've had the saddle for 3 weeks now, and beginning is indeed quite something to get used to. Lateral flex is quite noticeable, but especially on rides over 100 km, fatigue is less.

Pros & Cons

Comfortable
Lateral flex
Slightly too heavy

A lot of saddle for the money

- Hampus, 3 June, 2021

Active system works very well. You don't even feel it, but when you film from behind, you can see how it folds a little bit. You really only sit on the seat legs and nothing else. Easy to find the right saddle immediately if you follow the instructions on SQLab's website.

Pros & Cons

A lot of saddle for the money
Easy to choose the right size
Takes some time to set up

Completely got rid of numbness and pain

- Hampus, 25 May, 2021

It takes a while to adjust it correctly as you have to take into account the height of the "plateau". You really only sit on the sit bones and thanks to the Active System (I use white, weighing 67 kg) you don't get pain in these at all. The actual rotation that Active system offers is not at all noticeable when cycling, but is only slightly visible if you look from behind.

A lot of saddle for the money

Innovative

- Audrius, 20 March, 2021

After trying 10 saddles at least this is most comfortable. I used ISM seat before but due to poor thigh clearance I started to feel knee pain. Although ISM seat is very good for perineal area I had to look for other options finally settling with SqLab 612 Ergowave Active

Pros & Cons

Good thigh clearance
Spine friendly
Very light
Quite narrow clamp grip (32-35 mm only)
Still some perineal discomfort

Overall a good saddle and worth trying out.

- James, 19 March, 2021

This is a nice saddle and very comfortable when you are in its “sweetspot” it is, however, quite slippery. I also would have liked a leather option.

Pros & Cons

Comforts
Well made
A bit slippery
Hard to stay in its sweetspot
Would have liked a leather option.
