The panniers are of impeccable quality, and look perfectly durable. The volume is very good, for a competitive weight! There's no shoulder strap to carry the pannier once you've put the bike down, but a climbing carabiner does the trick just fine, in a stylish, sporty style!

It is the lightest version of the big backroller panniers but you are also missing a few important parts. If you want to close this bag, it has to be rolled all the way up. Too bad Ortlieb did not attach adjustable and far too short straps to the buckles. I bought and shortened a couple of extra carrying straps myself, and then attached them to the existing buckles. This allows me to make full use of the large contents and still close the bags with the buckles. Also, Ortlieb's anti-theft cables do not fit this model. You can also find a creative solution for this: a steel cable with 2 loops.

To close the bag, the bag must be folded at the top, rolled up and then closed by means of the snap buckle, the disadvantage is that the closing part of the snap buckle is on the side of the bag, which makes it very difficult to close with an unfilled bag. With a full bag it is fine, then you don't keep pushing the counter part away during closing. The release system to take the bag off the bike simultaneously acts as a handle. This is far too fragile, cuts into your hand, and because it is on the back of the bag it starts to hang crooked and the bag constantly hits your leg when you walk. Hanging an empty bag on the bike also requires some skills, because there is no weight in the bag you have to help the bag to lower around the rack. By doing so, you release the handle which causes the latches to close before it is hung around the rack. Not practical.

Still regret. Didn't think I needed the shoulder strap. A therefore fine to take the city. Butre closure is less user friendly and also the inside pockets are just well worth the money on the classic.

Solid spacious bags! My laptop backpack fits in there in its entirety, ideal. The stitch closures are not always convenient due to the lack of adjustment space of the straps they are attached to the bag with. Although that is a small thing. The QL1 system with which you hang the bag on the bike is also somewhat less flexible than the newer QL variants, since you need an Allen key to position things. Also a small thing.

I already had the bags in red, which my wife wanted, so I bought them in black. Ideal for longer bike rides with luggage. They are also handy for everyday use, but you have to be careful that the bags are not easily removed by others.

This pannier set is spacious enough for daily use and commuting. Good waterproof. The rigidity of the bags and the side closure make them difficult to close.

Very good and convenient in rainy weather. Minus point is the way you have to put the pockets on. The buckles are not adjustable in length so you have to fold the bag fairly small. Because of this you cannot make full use of the 40L storage space.

The Ortlieb Back Roller City panniers are easy to use. A convenient system allows you to attach the panniers to your bicycle. Taking the panniers off is also quick and easy. They are spacious, but not bulky or too big. The fast delivery is also a plus.

With a handle you get the bags from the luggage rack very convenient on the train. Ortlieb bags are really recommended really practical and waterproof.

Rolling it closed takes some getting used to, but works well.

We had these bags (previous model) in 1990, for example, on a 14-day Iceland extreme trip to the highlands with severe storms, hurricanes and heavy rain. These bags always remained tight and were heavily loaded.

Excellent bicycle touring bags, just the right size to hold everything you need without weighing down your bike too much. Waterproof material and locking system ensure that the contents stay protected and dry in all weather conditions. The attachment/release system is extremely quick and convenient. Good packing of the shipment, with faster than expected delivery time. Only negative note: I would have preferred at least one inside pocket in the bags and a shoulder strap that could be used when needed.

Ortield's Back Roller City panniers look solid and offer appreciable capacity. The roll-up closure system guarantees watertightness. However, the asperities of the buckles, which seem too small to me, plus the stiffness of the fabrics, make this closure a little tricky.

Carrier hooks can be moved so it always fits on the carrier. Bag is narrow so it does not get in the way when cycling. The shoulder strap makes it easy to take to the store. It has withstood quite a bit of rain.

Was looking for white panniers and apparently these are the only ones available in white from the good brands (Ortlieb, Vaude). Had some questions and was helped very well by customer service. I solved the disadvantages of no inside pocket and no security myself by attaching a Leitz WOW traveller zipper bag to the inside and making a metal cable to the handle as was done at Vaude.

The quality of the panniers is - as expected - super, as are the appearance and the size. So you can transport decent quantities. Somewhat cumbersome I find the closing mechanism. Also, the holder is not quite easy to handle. Unfortunately, there is no way to effectively secure the quite high-quality bags against theft. I hope they will stay with me for a long time anyway. Bought locally, I would certainly have opted for a different model.

Am happy with these bags. Meet my expectations. Had in my previous Ortlieb bags a separate inner compartment to store small items such as tire levers and adapter for valve. I miss that in these bags.

Closing them takes some practice. The bags are easily removable, unfortunately also by unwanted third parties. I have overcome the latter by securing both bags to the rack with an old cable lock.

The bag is very high quality. The individual fit to the respective bike is easy to manage. The only drawback - the somewhat wobbly stand when you take off the bag and set it down on the ground.

The bags offer plenty of storage space and are very robust. Closing, attaching and removing the bags is playfully simple and done in seconds, even when fully packed. Due to the solid back they also remain standing. The waterproofness I could not yet check, because in their first use only bright sunshine prevailed. The bags are also odorless! A clear buy recommendation!

Great rear pannier backs, waterproof, easy to attach, sturdy and fairly fashionable. As they allow enough adjustment to set them back (away from your feet when pedaling) I am using them in both, my folding and my road bikes. Highly recommended.

I'm looking for bike bags and knew that the company Ortlieb made very good. after a long search I found this. I can only say that it has helped me a lot on a bike tour. It is also possible to take clothes for more than a week.

Looks great and very tough, top fastening and fitting to bike could be better. The top fastening is a bit fiddly requiring folding and a bit of tugging to attach to fastener, this could be improved. The attachment to the pannier frame particularly at the bottom of each pannier isn't great but I think this will depend on the shape and diameter of your frame. Overall I am happy and the price and shipping to UK was very good.

This is a great product which will last for a very long time, but, if i had given it a little more thought I would probably have gone for a version which allowed easier and quicker access. It’s a great click and release system; faultless. And appears to be totally waterproof; plus,at the price was a bargain. What’s not to like. The service was really fast and I would recommend them. All things considered i am very pleased with my purchase and look forward to enjoying my panniers in the season ahead.

I bought the Ortlieb Back Roller City panniers as a birthday present for my daughter, who is a keen commuting cyclist, to transport often precious cargo to work. My partner already has a pair of Ortliebs which he's used on many cycling adventures so they already came highly recommended. My daughter is just as thrilled with hers: waterproofness, spaciousness, strength, weight, durability, ease at removing and visibility. To top it off, price and swiftness of delivery were unbeatable! I bought these for a forthcoming 12 day cycle tour in Spain and have tried them out a couple of times in UK. I had previously thought Ortlieb bags were too expensive but the quoted price is for two panniers which is fantastic value and provides plenty of space for touring. These are properly waterproof which means you don't have to worry about rain covers or stuffing your items into plastic bags. The fitting and removal is easy peasy.
