Great carbon rims, great value for money. Very satisfied with this set of rims, immediately give my bike a much sportier/aggressive look. At first I was afraid to choose 50mm high rims, due to the influence of crosswinds during my rides, but after a few rides with moderate to strong winds I can say that this has no influence. I also like the fact that it has DT-Swiss 350 hubs, which are very maintenance-friendly. Without tools, you can remove your cassette from the rim and then do your thing. The only downside with these hubs is that it has an 18t ratchet in it which means the noise in freewheel is not as loud (personal opinion) as some other models, but this is very easy to replace yourself to a 24t, 36t or even a 54t ratchet.
I am upgrading from my stock wheels to this all-round aero set. Apart from the expected visual boost, I was immediately surprised at how comfortable these wheels ride. With 28mm tyres on this set, I actually ride more comfortably than with 30mm on my old wheelset, I think because the internal width is so much wider and the tyres are also much wider now. Where the internal width brings comfort, the 31mm external width should also be completely in line with the aerodynamic trend towards wider wheels. The model is already some 3 years old though, and then you see that you can get significantly lighter wheel sets for the same price and depth these days. However, almost all alternatives had thinner internal and external widths, and in terms of maintenance, this Bontrager really seems to be a kilometre ahead. The DT Swiss 350 hubs, steel spokes, hooked rims, have been the standard for sooo long. And should things go wrong, you still have the 2-year replacement warranty through Trek!
