Description

Description

At first glance, this looks like a great chain. It's the tech on the inside that makes the Sram XX1 Eagle 12-speed chain a great product. The chain and groupset provide you with a range of gears previously only possible with a double crankset.

The new Eagle PowerLock closing link with the Flow Link technology provides an optimal chain line and ensures it runs smoothly. This chain is the most quiet, strongest, and durable chain currently available. The Eagle technology offers you a 500% gear range, 20% more than any other 1x groupset will.

Technology

• Hard Chrome technology for maximum strength and wear resistance
• Proprietary clutch finish ensures improved longevity
• Includes 12-speed power lock
• Minimum 112 links
• Technologies: FLOWLINK™, HARD CHROME™, POWERLOCK®, X-SYNC™

Assembly

Use Missing Link pliers.
This chain comes with a missing link as standard. The use of this missing link makes it very easy to assemble the chain, but is also ideal if you want to thoroughly clean your bike. To open and close this missing link you need Missing Link pliers, you can find them here.

Lengthening with a chain rivet tool
When you buy a chain it is always too long, which means it always needs to be cut to length. To adjust the chain to the correct length it has to be broken, this is done with a chain punch. Our chain punches can be found here. Make sure you choose a chain tool for the right speed.

Tips for assembly!
When (dis)assembling this chain, it is useful to take the tension off the part where you break the chain. You can do this by making a hook from an old spoke or some chain punches come with a handy hook. You hook it between the part you want to work on and thus locally remove the tension from the chain.

Measure wear regularly
A chain checker can help you see when your chain is worn out, so that you can replace it in time. These checkers can be found here.

User tips

How often should I clean my bike? Regular cleaning ensures that your material lasts longer and that you can enjoy your cycling for longer. How often you need to clean depends on the weather conditions in which you ride. Do you cycle through all kinds of weather, or do you only go out when the sun is shining? It all affects the degree of wear and tear and some people will have to clean their bikes more often than others. Use the schedule below as a guide:

October to March:
• Clean every 200 km
• Rinse after every ride
• Dry and oil the chain after every ride
• Leave the bike to dry at room temperature

April to September:
• Clean every 300 km
• Rinse off after cycling in the rain
• Dry and oil the chain after polishing or rinsing
• Leave the bike to dry at room temperature

May your bike stand out a bit with bling, then this chain is definitely your thing!

SRAM XX1 GOLD CHAIN comes neatly delivered in a box. Along with the order came a BBB Cycling Nautilus 2 BTL-05 chain punch, which is super easy to use and for shortening the chain. Also ordered here was a BBB Cycling Missinglink BTL-77 pliers to remove the old chain and mount the new SRAM XX1 GOLD chain. Don't regret the purchase for a second and it matches very nicely with my MTB, which is finished in metallic brown with gold details.
