Technology

Disc Brakes
Changing wheels with disc brakes has become considerably quicker with the R9120 groupset. These disc brakes also feature the ICE Technologies Freeza which offers improved heat dissipation, something which comes in handy on long descends. The R9120 is also known for its powerful and efficient braking.

Shifters
The great thing about the new shifters is whether they're mechanical, electric, or hydraulic, they all feel virtually the same. That's exactly what Shimano intended with their new design, allowing the pro's to easily change from system to system.The Dual Control Lever (mechanical) uses a shorter lever throw, has a more accurate lever feel, features more adjustability, and lighter operation. The Di2 shifter has been given a more distinctive "click" to really give you a clear shifter feedback. The material used for the hoods has been adapted to give you more grip and a more ergonomic hand position.

Rear mechanical derailleur
The Shadow rear derailleur is a more rigid platform to shift with and has a more protected position directly under the cassette, reducing the chance of frame damage to a minimum in the event of a crash. The new low-friction cables with polymer coating allow you to shift up and down your cassette even quicker.

Mechanical front derailleur
The front derailleur has become more compact and features an altered cable routing to reduce the required input force for a shift. There are multiple options available when it comes to cable routing, and the derailleur now features an integrated cable tension adjuster. All this to facilitate wider tyres and comply with various different mounting points on different bikes.
