Fine trousers, moderately water resistant

- Aaron, 9 January, 2024

Good fit and nice and warm until freezing, below that I would choose a different pair of trousers. Unfortunately not resistant to splashing water from (large) puddles while mountain biking. Seems only resistant to drizzle.

Pros & Cons

Fine chamois and fit
Warm enough for autumn
Not resistant to water spray during MTB
Towards freezing point not warm enough.

Above expectations fine breathable and warm cycling trousers for wet and cold days

- Mark, 2 December, 2023

These trousers are better than expected. Nice and warm fabric that is windproof and keeps you perfectly warm even in temperatures around or below freezing (I used it up to -2 degrees). It breathes well and I like the fact that it is water repellent. Ideal trousers for wet autumn days and spring classics, but also fine in winter. The chamois is very comfortable, I haven't used it for more than 2 hours yet but that shouldn't be a problem. Too bad there are no reflective stripes at the calves for cycling in the dark. Braces are fine, could have been looser but much better than the Castelli trousers I have. Again, be sure to buy one size bigger than your usual size.

Pros & Cons

Fine chamois
Warm and breathable
Well windproof
Braces on the tight side
No reflection stripes at calves

Perfect for old Dutch weather (rain, cold, wind)

- Reemer, 17 November, 2023

More than 100 km of gravel in the pouring rain at about 8 degrees and stayed wonderfully warm and dry. Takes a bit of getting used to not having a zip on the ankle but it's actually nice because the trousers are supple and tight enough. The chamois feels good and continues to feel good the whole ride and beyond. The front of the trousers is high enough for warmth but low enough for when you need to get out for a while. Tip, received from Mantel: if the trousers are a bit less water repellent/waterproof, put them in the dryer once.

Pros & Cons

Lovely chamois
No zip on the calf yet tight
Waterproof
Chamois for experienced riders (too thin for beginners)

Top pants for the cold seasons

- Jurjen, 4 December, 2022

Haven't cycled in the rain yet, but I like to keep it that way. The pants have to be put on and off with care because there is no zipper at the ankle. Ridden in with 0 degrees, and experienced no cold.

Pros & Cons

Good fit
No zipper (no dirt, wind and waterproof)
Warm and breathable

Fine trousers. If in doubt between two sizes: choose the larger one.

- Robert, 27 November, 2021

Solid stuff. No zip at the ankles, but the legs are tight, so they do not flap. Some 'careful' putting on, but otherwise no problem. For me (187 cm, 78 kg) the XL is just right. I have jeans size 32, but an L would definitely have been too small. The trouser legs are long enough despite my relatively long legs.

Pros & Cons

Fit
Long legs
Solid stuff
No zip at ankles

Excellent price/quality

- Kenneth, 19 January, 2021

These really are top trousers! I bought these trousers at the beginning of December and have now used them for 500 km (each ride lasts +- 2 hours) on my racing bike. At a wind chill of -5°C, they remain warm and windproof. A little rain shower won't hurt, but a long shower can make the trousers feel cold and wet. In certain reviews I see that the lack of a zip at ankle level is seen as a negative point, but I find this rather a plus, just pull it over the feet and it tightens more than enough. Also, the size chart on it from Mantel is perfect. And of course the chamois is excellent, but that is rather personal.

Pros & Cons

Excellent chamois
No zip
Small rain shower no problem
Windproof
Wet/clammy feeling during long rain shower

decent trousers - quality as described

- Rudy, 21 December, 2020

Is a good cycling pant that does what it is supposed to do. Even in light rain it is splash-proof, keeps out the cold (tested above freezing) and fits well. The chamois is not too thick and that too is easy cycling; so far I have cycled for about 2 hours each time and the chamois kept doing its job.

Fine winter trousers

- Walter, 13 December, 2020

These trousers should indeed be ordered one size bigger. With my height (1.81) and weight (66), I am usually a size M, but size L is definitely not too big. Thanks to Mantel for the tip! The fit is fine and the trousers are nice and warm. There are no zips on the trouser legs, but once on, the trousers fit perfectly, and the grippers keep them on perfectly too. The chamois is also excellent. Water repellency seems moderate
