Shimano G03S Resin Disc Brake Pads

The Shimano G03S disc brake pads are organic brake pads made for Shimano disc brakes. They are the successor of the well-known G02S brake pads for disc brakes. Compared to its predecessor, the wear resistance of the G03S has been greatly improved, without negatively affecting the braking performance.

Organic brake pads
These organic brake pads are made of soft materials. These brake pads therefore provide excellent controllability and good braking power. Due to the soft compound, this brake pad also engages quickly. In addition, the organic compound ensures that these brake pads make little noise while riding.
The disadvantage of organic brake pads is that they are less able to withstand higher temperatures, which can occur during long descents, for example. Organic brake pads also wear out faster if you drive a lot in muddy conditions. As mentioned before, the wear resistance of the G03S brake pads has been greatly improved. However, it does not yet match the durability of semi-metallic or metallic brake pads.

In short, if you mainly use your bike in summer and especially in an area like the Netherlands, then these organic brake pads are a perfect choice. However, if you mainly use the bike in winter, or if you regularly go to hilly/mountainous areas, then you better go for Semi-Metallic or Metallic brake pads.

It is essential that you break in your brake pads after fitting them. This has many benefits. Breaking in the pads makes them last longer, brake better and squeak less.
