The idea behind the Rotor Q-Ring is simple: any pedalstroke has a “dead zone” at the most vertical position of the cranks. At this point, it is simply impossible to transfer your power to the pedal, making this the point during the stroke a rider wants to get through quickly. Rotor Q-Rings have less teeth on the chainring at this point, making it move past the dead zone faster than a usual round ring. Following this, the chainring offers a longer stroke optimising the length of your pedal stroke. This will theoretically help you get across the dead zone faster, resulting in higher efficiency when entering the optimal drive zone. This makes the entire pedal stroke more effective as a whole, leading to lower amounts of lactic acid being produced and staving off fatigue.
