Description

Description

Also Rotor has been busy, they have modified the Ultegra 6800 and Dura Ace 9000 chainrings for the new Shimano cranksets. The Chainrings feature a 4 arm fit that allows assembly.

The following combinations are possible:
54 | 44
53 | 38
52 | 36
50 | 34
46 | 36

The thoughts behind Rotor:
The thoughts behind the Rotor Q-Ring chainring are clear: each pedal movement has a 'dead center'. This is the moment when your cranks sit vertically. At this point there is no possibility to keep pressure on your crank/pedals which makes you want to get beyond this point as fast as possible. Rotor Q-Rings have less teeth on its dead center which makes you go faster past this point. The next thing that happens is that you feel maximum resistance, at this point you can get maximum power out of your rotation. With this technology you will pass your dead center faster which ensures less power loss before you point of maximum power. This results in an efficient pedal movement, and less fatigue in your muscles.

The technology behind the rotor is characterized by efficiency. Rotor believes in fact that its products are initially not so much 'faster' but it's mostly the efficient pedal movement which improves the actual net time.

Several scientific studies have proven the positive effect of Rotor Q-Rings chainRings. Perhaps even the best proof is the many victories achieved in the pro peloton on Rotor Q-Rings / QXL-Rings.

Everyone should have these!

- Howard 18 June 2018

10 hours to get used to these they say; they felt natural straight away to me! I've gone from a 50/34 to a 52/36 with Q rings and I can still get up all the hills near me. The 52 ring allows me to go faster on the flat too; so win win! With the R & D that must have gone into producing these rings; I feel the price is entirely justified. But the covers and bolts you have to purchase as well for Shimano cranks are ridiculously overpriced. Great service from Mantel and nice discount.

Pros & Cons

Fast delivery
Smoother pedal action

Awesome performance that's affordable

- David Ian 30 April 2017

I was sceptical about the difference the Rotor Q ring would make but having just ridden a Sportive, the smooth gear changing and performance of the Q ring was impressive. I was able to keep the power on and set a number of Strava PB's on the first outing.

Pros & Cons

No dead spot in the pedal stroke
Slick gear changing
Difficult to set up front derailleur
