Description

Description

A fully mechanical dropper post which -like a few dropper posts by other manufacturers- uses a replaceable air cartridge to work as a return spring. Other manufacturers are pushing the limits of how much drop you can get by going for 150 or even 170 mm of drop, but Pro has opted for a respectable 120 mm. In the real world, this will be more than enough for most people apart from perhaps the very tallest or most extreme riders.

The Koryak post is available in two of the most frequented diameters, notably 30.9 and 31.6 mm. Operation works via a thumb shifter which can be mounted on either the left or right of your bars, or using a Shimano i-spec II compatible Firebolt-like shifter. This last option combines the best of a 1x11 drive train or an XT/XTR groupset with Synchronised Shift.

Technology

Dropper seat posts are becoming a regular sight on bikes with 120 mm of suspension travel or more, and something we recommend for riders who're going for rougher trails or who would like to ride in a little more playful manner. Even XC racers at the very top realise the potential of the dropper, and choose to use them during the World Cups for instance. Starting this fall, PRO (the accessory brand by Shimano) will start to offer one such seat post under the well-known Koryak component range.

Very pleasant product, worthy of OEM

- HJ 27 August 2023

On my new Cannondale eMTB is a dropper post from Cannondale itself. Got used to it and wouldn't want to be without it. As a result, my Scalpel was hanging idly in the garage. Now that has been solved with this Koryak. Reasonably easy to mount (had to buy a cable guiding tool though) and better quality than Cannondale's Downlow. So which bike do I choose for my next ride????

Pros & Cons

Easy to mount
Reacts pleasantly fast
Solid
Cable guiding tool needed

1 bolt has too little support at enduro/downhill saddle can still twist. Hook-in system cable also very poor compared to concurrence. Was broken very quickly so no positive experiences with pro.

Pros & Cons

Worked well in the beginning
1-bolt saddle can still change position
Broken after 4 months
