Thinsulate® 200g and thermal coating guarantee warm feet
These mountain bike shoes are equipped with Thinsulate® 200G material, which provides optimal insulation. To stop you from getting cold feet. The extra thermal coating on the nose of this winter MTB shoe is mainly intended to keep the toes nice and warm. To complete the insulating qualities of Northwave Raptor TH, the Arctic GTX footbed has been added. This sole has a fleece construction and membrane, which provides excellent warmth and insulation.
The Jaws Carbon Reinforced sole offers stiffness and comfort.
This MTB shoe is equipped with the Jaws Carbon Reinforced sole. As the name suggests, this sole is reinforced with carbon, so that a good balance between stiffness and comfort is achieved. Due to the improved stiffness, each pedal is more effectively converted into speed. The bottom of this MTB shoe also has a rubber tread, which makes it easier to walk with the increased grip.
SLW2 dial system for a perfect adjustment and fit
With the SLW2 dial turning system you can determine the fit of this mountain bike shoe to precision. A simple turn of the knob ensures that the BioMap Aero Overlap construction is pulled more tightly over the instep. In addition, this construction has improved its aerodynamics. Thanks to the reflective details, the Northwave Raptor TH MTB shoes make you even more visible in dark conditions.
Detailed description size in cm
To help you as best we can in choosing the right shoe size, we measured all shoes ourselves. All you have to do now is measure your own foot length and we will indicate which shoe size fits you best per brand. You can easily measure your foot by placing an A4 sheet on the floor against the wall. Stand with your foot on the paper with your heel against the wall. Draw a line next to your big toe (or the toe next to it if it's longer). Mark your other foot on the paper as well and then continue with the largest foot. Now measure this distance and you have your foot length in cm's! Please note: some suppliers have their own measurement system, which means that what is on the shoe box may differ from what we have measured.
The shoe size you need may vary per brand. This is because certain brands have a smaller or larger last. In addition, we have divided the shoes into narrow / medium / wide. Read all about this on our blog!

Size guide does not help
All the effort put into measuring feet and using the length of the shoe on the inside etc etc came to nothing. The shoes, like the majority of clothes and shoes associated with cycling, are not as big as advertised. I would require a half size bigger if the shoe was to be the correct length for my foot, this would be an 11 1/2 in NW Raptor size where by the measuring guide on this website my feet are a 10. I have done a couple of hundred miles in them and my toes remain in contact with end of the shoe despite some loosening up in other places. The description of average wide should also carry the caveat "for a cycling shoe". They are in no way a wide fit for a shoe. On the plus side, they are well made a warm, it is already cold up here in the highlands. This goes also for the gloves I bought for my partner and returned almost before she even tried them on! We measured her hand, consulted the size guide and the gloves on arrival are fit for a small child.

Nice shoes
Lots of room in the toe area. Easy to fasten but need to almost over tighten, then the tension eases through the wire. Not the easiest dial to open up - one ratchet at a time works well but doesn't always free entirely when pulling the dial. Warm, and good for all but the coldest days
