Our choice for an all-round tubeless road bike tyre

Our choice for an all-round tubeless road bike tyre

The compound of this fast tyre has been improved considerably in recent years to give you very good grip in all conditions. Add to this the tubeless capability and you have a tyre that can be used all year round with little risk of puncture.

Pros & Cons

Pros & Cons

  • The Schwalbe Pro One is just as fast, supple, and lightweight, but it offers more grip and is more durable than most other performance-oriented tyres.
  • The Schwalbe Pro One road bike tyre is made from different compounds for maximum grip in curves.
  • The triple layer side wall and 1,4 mm V-Guard anti-puncture protection layer reduce susceptibility to cuts.
  • The use of a double carcass layer on the tread makes for a silky smooth ride.
  • The Tread Wear Indicator shows when your tyres need replacing.
  • The Schwalbe Pro One TLE can also be used with an inner tube, but the best performance is achieved with a tubeless setup.
  • Due to its low rolling resistance and fast rubber, this tyre wears relatively quickly.

Description

Description

The Schwalbe Pro One is the absolute top model from the Schwalbe collection. With this model Schwalbe is setting a new standard in quality and performance. The Pro One road bike tyre is now even faster, smoother and lighter. The Schwalbe Pro One TLE can win the heart of any cyclist after just a few pedal strokes. According to Schwalbe, the new Pro One TLE has 13% less rolling resistance, 22% more grip and increased puncture protection compared to its predecessor.

'Creating Souplesse'
Schwalbe's new Pro One was created with lightness and ease of riding in mind. Or, as the Pro One cachphrase goes: 'Creating Souplesse'. The Pro One consists of 2 carcass layers under the tread. The use of a double layer makes for a silky smooth riding experience.

What about puncture resistance?
The triple layer sidewall provides additional protection against punctures. A 14mm V-Guard anti-leak protection layer has been added under the tread. This ultra-light leak protection strip made of high-tech polymer fibres reduces susceptibility to punctures from sharp stones and glass. The V-Guard Anti-Puncture Strip extends over the entire tread. Neither the tyre's rolling resistance nor flexibility are affected by the V-Guard strip. The Schwalbe Pro One lets you enjoy your ride without having to worry about a possible puncture.

A new Addix Race Compound
The new Addix Race Compound is made of the highest quality polymers. The Schwalbe Pro One road bike tyre consists of various compounds. These specially developed compounds were used for both the tread and the sidewalls. As a result, the Pro One adapts better to the road surface, giving you increased grip in the bends, without influencing rolling resistance.

One Pro One for each type of rider
With the new Pro One, Schwalbe is following the current trend of using wider rims. The Schwalbe Pro One has been redesigned to fit the more modern 19C rims. In addition to the Tubeless Easy version, the Pro One also comes in a Tube and TT version.

Assembly

Installation instructions
Schwalbe advises that all Schwalbe Pro One TLE tyres be mounted using Schwalbe Doc Blue latex sealant. They advise using 60ml of Schwalbe Doc Blue latex sealant. It is advised to ride for about 25 km directly after mounting, to break in the tyres. Proper sealing of the new tyre cannot be guaranteed if you choose not to follow these directions.

Nice, comfortable and fast tyre from an excellent brand

- Remco 10 April 2024

Nice, comfortable and fast tyres. Initial fitting was not easy, but that may have been down to me or my wheels, and apparently it helps to put your new tyres in the sun for a while first, as this gets them around your wheels more smoothly. I bought the tyres in the 28 mm version, and on my rims with internal width of 24 mm, they actually measure 30 mm wide.

Good first impression

- Rob 1 April 2024

Good first impression. I don't have strong hands but was fairly easy to fit, 1 tyre needed help for the final push. Did need the tyre booster to pop them into the rim. Tyres are also nicely round and don't sway, but they shouldn't for the price, although they are one of the cheaper premium TL tyres out there at the moment. No idea how hard-wearing they are, only been riding them for about 2 weeks.

Pros & Cons

reasonably easy to fit for tubeless
rolls very lightly

Original tyres fitted to road bikes. 8500km. Let's hope they last that long.

Fast tyre with good grip

- Patrice 28 March 2024

Once I got (with special lift pliers) the tyres (front/rear) on, I immediately started driving them and the difference is noticeable (during winter I use all seasons). It drives a lot more pleasantly and tightly...

Pros & Cons

Good grip
Rolls nicely
Pricey
Very difficult to get on the wheels
