Description

Description

The BBB Cycling disc brake pads are very durable and have a fit like the original. The disc brake pads are available in Sintered Compound and Organic Compound, so there are perfect brake pads for all conditions. Also, all BBB Cycling's disc brake pads come pre-broken in and will, therefore, last much longer!

Hard (Sintered):
The compound of sintered brake pads is made of resin mixed with metal particles. This makes the compound very tough and wear-resistant. These brake pads are also very resistant to high temperatures that may occur particularly during long descents. The downside is that these brake pads engage less quickly than organic or semi-metallic brake pads, and produce more noise during braking.
This makes these brake pads very suited for cycling on muddy terrain where you need to do a lot of braking, which you often see in the hills or mountains. These brake pads are also absolutely suitable for Downhill and Enduro riding.

Soft (Organic):
Organic brake pads consist of soft materials. This ensures they have excellent modulation and good braking power. They also engage quickly and make little noise thanks to the soft compound.
The downside of organic brake pads is that they’re less resistant to high temperatures that can occur during long descents. Organic brake pads also wear faster if you often ride on muddy terrain.
So, if you use your bike mostly in the summer and on flat or slightly hilly terrain, these organic brake pads are a perfect choice. If you are more of a winter cyclist, or ride in the hills and mountains quite a lot, you’re better off with Semi-Metallic brake pads.

Not suitable for all rotors
Brake pads with a hard (sintered or metal) compound are not suitable for all disc brake rotors. Because these pads consist of a harder material, they can only be used on ground rotors. Pressed, soft brake discs are only suitable for soft, organic brake pads. Harder brake pads make such discs wear out quickly.

Note:
Manufacturers use different sizes and fits. Make sure that the shape of the brake pad in the image corresponds with your current brake pad. Not sure what shape you have? Scroll down to the Compatibility section, where you’ll find with which types of brake these brake pads are compatible.

Good dosage of braking power but worn out extremely quickly.

- Leo 15 March 2024

Had the brakes on my road bike fully serviced (new oil and pads, discs cleaned and blocks broken in). The original blocks were not available so opted for these BBB blocks. After 5 weeks and about 500 km, the blocks were completely worn down, iron on iron. The conditions were bad for soft brake pads, lots of rain and dirty road surfaces, but I didn't expect them to wear so quickly. The next set will be semi-mwtal from a different brand.
