A good pair of cycling shorts is essential to being comfortable on the road bike or MTB. Cycling shorts can be with bib straps, in which case they're called bib shorts, or without straps, in which case they're just called cycling shorts. In combination with arm and leg warmers a pair of cycling (bib) shorts can be quite versatile in terms of being able to use then though all seasons. You can choose a relatively simple pair with a standard chamois or a high-tech bibshort with a special chamois, optimised for longer rides and better breathability.
