Super lightweight and durable thanks to ground components
The KMC X11SL bike chain is made of a lightweight and strong aluminium for which a special manufacturing process has been used. The inner and outer plates have recesses to make the chain much lighter than conventional chains. This chain is also nickel plated for increased corrosion resistance and durability!

Assembly

Use missing-link pliers
This chain comes with a missing link, which makes mounting the chain very easy and is also ideal for when you want to give you bike a deep clean. To open and close the missing link you need a pair of missing-link pliers, which you can find here.

Cut to length using a chain breaker
When you buy a chain, it is always too long, which means that it needs to be cut to the correct length. In order to do this, the chain needs to be broken with a chain breaker tool. Our range of chain breakers can be found here. Make sure that you choose a chain breaker for the correct number of speeds of your bike.

Tips for (dis)mounting!
When you fit or remove a chain, it is good to remove the tension from the section where you are breaking the chain. You can do this by using an old spoke and making a little hook at its end, or by using the handy little hook that comes with some chain breaker tools. How often should I clean my bike? Regular cleaning ensures that the parts on your bike will last longer so that you can also enjoy cycling for a long time. How often you should clean depends largely on the weather conditions in which you ride. Are you always out on your bike, come rain or shine? Or are you a genuine fair-weather cyclist? All this determines the degree of wear, so some of us have to clean our bikes more often than others. Feel free to use the indications below as a guideline:

October - March:
• Clean every 200 km
• Rinse off after every ride
• Dry and lubricate the chain after every ride
• Let the bike dry at room temperature

April - September
• Clean every 300 km
• Rinse off after a ride in the rain
• Dry and lubricate the chain after cleaning or rinsing
