Pros & Cons

Pros & Cons

  • Power meter pedals can be used on road, mountain, gravel and cyclocross bikes!
  • With a 1% measuring deviation, this power meter is very accurate.
  • This power meter measures your pedal stroke on round and oval chainrings.
  • The individual parts of these pedals are replaceable.
  • A single-sided power meter is less accurate than a double-sided power meter.
  • Some cranks require a spacer between the pedal and crank arm. This increases the Q-factor.

Description

Description

The Favero Assioma UNO is a single-sided power meter located in your pedal. It provides accurate power readings, can be used with chainrings of any shape and is easy to swap between bikes! It is, therefore, an ideal device for further improving your training sessions.

Single-side measurements
These pedals measure your power output on one side. The total power output is calculated by simply doubling the single-side data. This is usually not a problem, as most cyclists have little difference between their left and right legs. An additional advantage of a single-side measurement is that you get a good power meter at a competitive price. And if you want to switch to a double-sided power meter later on, the power meter pedal for the right side is available separately!

Favero IAV
The Favero Assioma UNO power meter pedal measures the rotation speed using its built-in gyroscope. The technology used for this is called Favero IAV, or Instantaneous Angular Velocity. Thanks to this technology, the total power output, the left-right ratio and the effective pedal stroke can be determined very precisely when using these pedals.

Compatible with all types of chainrings
The Favero Assioma UNO power meter pedal measures the exact rotating speed throughout the pedal stroke. Many power meters record this speed as a constant, which however is not correct when an oval chainring is used, for instance. Unlike such other power meters, the Favero Assioma power meter can be used if you have an oval chainring.

Integrated battery
The pedals have an integrated rechargeable battery that lasts up to 50 hours on a single charge. The pedals do not have to be removed for charging; they come with a 2 m long cable, and thanks to the magnetic connector you don't have to look for a charging port every time.

Waterproof, sturdy and replaceable
These power meter pedals are waterproof, which means that they can withstand extreme weather conditions. They are well built but if a part should break, it can be easily replaced. All pedal parts are available separately.

User tips

If you want to improve your performance, a power meter allows you to train more specifically. And afterwards you can better see what you have trained. A power meter is also much more accurate than, say, a heart rate monitor; this is because your heart rate is affected by various external factors such as temperature or fatigue.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between pedal power meters such as the Assioma UNO and crank arm power meters, for example?
The main advantage of a pedal power meter is that it is relatively easy to swap between bikes, which is convenient if you have several bikes! In terms of accuracy, a pedal power meter is absolutely not inferior to other types of power meters either. Plus, the fact that spare parts are readily available helps to ensure that these pedals will last a very long time.

How do I calibrate the Assioma UNO pedals?
In principle, you do not need to calibrate the pedals, as they do so automatically. Please note that it is advisable to store the bike upright to ensure correct calibration. If you do want to calibrate the pedals, that is no problem; you can do so via the app. The old data will simply be overwritten by the new calibration.

I am currently using Shimano racing pedals, can I continue to use them?
This is not possible, unfortunately. The Favero Assioma pedal is designed to work with the Look Keo system and cannot be converted to work with Shimano SPD-SL. Thus, you will need to change the cleats on your cycling shoes. The Favero Assioma UNO set includes the red cleats (9° float) as standard, which fit the same shoes as the Shimano SPD-SL pedals (3-point system).

Easy installation and good value for money.

- Peter 16 March 2022

I chose this powermeter because of the price and ease of installation. I was already riding with Look pedals. Installation and calibration went very smoothly and I feel I am getting correct measurement results. It was a bit of a puzzle with the adjustment before I could easily click in and out of the pedals. That was easier with Look pedals.
