The DT Swiss XR1700 Spline 25 mountain bike wheels are a new generation in DT Swiss' mountain bike range. The focus was on widening the rim without adding too much weight, and this has absolutely been achieved. This wheelset has a weight of 1680 grams and a 29 mm outer rim diameter, which is really quite impressive for an aluminium rim. With these DT Swiss XR1700 Spline 25 wheels you have everything you need: stability, control and high acceleration power to blast up any hill.
All this comes from the lightweight and high-precision manufactured aluminium rims; the very reliable 36T ratchet hub system with high-quality bearings; the DT Swiss Competition spokes and the building quality that is a typical characteristic of the brand. The DT Swiss XR1700 25 wheelset is suitable for competitive riding, either with your friends or in advanced level races. With these wheels you can perform to the best of your ability.
Some 12 speed cassettes must be mounted onto the 10/11 speed Shimano/SRAM body. They are the SRAM NX Eagle PG-1230 cassettes and almost all other 12 speed MTB cassettes whose smallest cog is an 11. MTB cassettes whose smallest cog is a 10 need a specific freehub body; for Shimano this is a Micro-Spline freehub and for SRAM it is an XD freehub.

Rolls wonderfully and feels very solid.

I hesitated for a long time to buy another wheelset, however, the front hub on my specialized epic comp (2021) had some scratches (don't ask me how that got on the axle), but getting a loose hub and spokes again was a lot of hassle. This wheelset got good reviews and I took the gamble and immediately replaced both front and rear. I was a bit skeptical if it would really make a difference, but it really rolls wonderfully and I feel like the freewheel engages sooner when pedaling as well. I don't think there is much difference in terms of weight, but I don't have good equipment to measure it properly.
