Pros & Cons

Pros & Cons

  • Thanks to the low weight of 1443 grams, you ride uphill with less effort. In addition, the low 21 mm rim prevents the wind from getting a grip. Ideal for in the mountains!
  • The high quality DT Swiss 240S hubs ensure a low rolling resistance and a long service life.
  • The ratchet body system of the DT Swiss 240S hub engages very quickly when accelerating after a turn.
  • The 21 mm high rims give you no aerodynamic advantage. If you rarely or never ride in the mountains, it's wiser to look at a slightly higher rimmed set of wheels.

Description

Description

With the DT Swiss PR 1400 DICUT 21 Disc you get top notch aluminium race wheels for disc brakes. Wide, asymmetric and lightweight rims provide an excellent balance between stiffness and comfort. In addition to being nice and wide at 18 mm, the rims are also tubeless ready. In no time at all it is therefore possible to ride without an inner tube. Thanks to the low weight of 1443 grams, you can accelerate after a turn and ride uphill in hilly areas. The DT Swiss 240 hubs with ratchet system complete these high-quality wheels.

DT Swiss 240S hubs
A hub of Swiss precision, production and assembly. DT Swiss has turned the 240 into what it is now: a legend with clever and high-quality detail engineering solutions. With the latest refinements and sealing, the 240 hubs are extremely light and extremely durable. The ratchet system grips quickly, which ensures that you are up and running quickly after a turn. The 240 hubs contain bearings with higher tolerances than the 350 hubs. In other words, even more precision in production giving you even better working bearings with less resistance.

Pro Lock spoke nipples
Pro Lock is a process in which a patented 2-component adhesive liquid is injected into the nipple thread, enabling extremely durable wheel construction. Turning the nipple on the spoke activates the adhesive so it begins to cure. The wheel can still be set after the adhesive has fully cured, with only a minimal reduction of the locking function. This allows your wheels to maintain a much better spoke tension for a longer period of time. This increases the durability and correct spoke tension up to 20 times compared to wheels without Pro Lock nipples.

Tubeless ready
These wheels are equipped with a tubeless ready rim which makes it possible to ride with tubeless outer tubes and latex. With this set-up you minimise punctures. Should you still have a puncture, the latex will fill in the hole within seconds. Other advantages of tubeless riding are lower rolling resistance, more comfort and better grip. Of course it is still possible to mount your old familiar folding tyres with inner tubes.

Light, fast, and comfortable

- Dyonisius 11 July 2021

Very manoeuvrable, no side wind problems, very easy to get up to speed - and keep it up. Tyres go on and off well - no endless battles with like with some other tubeless ready wheel sets. These aluminium wheels ride very smoothly and absorb that extra bit of vibration and bounce that carbon wheels do not. Freehub makes nice subtle noise. Some carbon wheels are heavier, less comfortable, and more expensive.
