Serious and versatile mountain bike
The Trail 24 may be a kids bike but it really is a serious mountain bike. With its lightweight frame and 8-speed rear derailleur, it handles the easier trails well. As the tyres have small studs, this MTB rolls smoothly on both unpaved and paved roads. Add lights and a lock, and you have yourself a wonderfully versatile kids bike.
With the Cannondale Trail 24, your child can tackle anything from mountain bike trails to the daily rides to school. The Trail 24 makes any ride a lot more fun.
To perfect the handling of this bike, Cannondale have designed a lightweight frame. With their SmartForm C2 technology, Cannondale ensure that the frame material is thick where thickness is required and thinner where it can be. Transitions between thicknesses are as gradual as possible, ensuring stiffness and reducing stress points in the frame. As a result, the Trail 24's handling is very good. The 50 mm wide tyres provide plenty of damping, which is enhanced especially by the suspension fork with 63 mm travel. The tyres have a light studded tread, which is good for both on-road and off-road riding. This versatile bike is, therefore, very suitable for sporty youngsters.
Shifting & braking
Cannondale have made gear shifting easy on this kids mountain bike. The 8-speed Shimano Tourney rear derailleur can be adjusted with a twist mechanism on the handlebar. With a gear range of 267%, your child has sufficient options between light and heavy gears, but for the heavy trails it lacks just a few more gears. The mechanical disc brakes provide plenty of braking power and reliable performance in any conditions. This makes this bike easy to stop both in traffic and in the forest.

The Cannondale Trail 24 is presented as an MTB for older children. As such, it does not come with many extras. It lacks, for example, a lock, mudguards, a carrier rack and lights. However, the tyres with their light studded tread are perfectly suited to riding on asphalt. With a good set of lights, a cable lock and a sturdy backpack, your child can ride to school every day with the Trail 24, which does have a good kickstand for easy and stable parking.
