Kask KOO Cycling Glasses Review - High Levels of Adjustability and Excellent Lenses

22 May 2017

Competition between the manufacturers of cycling glasses is killing right now, because everyone wants to be the big name opposing Oakley’s dominance. Kask too have now entered the fore in the hopes of claiming a stake in the world of cycling glasses with the new Kask KOO. Another new pair of cycling glasses? Yes, but some very unique ones. Our colleague Niels tested the Kask KOO and wrote the following extensive Kask KOO review..

It looks as though the engineers at Kask have really thought the design through. You’re in for a surprise when you try to fold the legs, for instance.

The vertical hinge of the Kask KOO is a striking innovation

The glasses use a vertical hinge which means you can only turn the legs downwards.

No more sweat on your lenses

This new system allows you to adjust the fit more to the shape of your face, moving the top of the glasses closer to or further from your forehead.

Kask KOO Review

Move the top away from your forehead, and prevent sweat from running down the inside or outside of the lens. It’s a problem many cyclists will have encountered at some point.

The nose piece can be adjusted to the width of your nose. Contrary to some of my colleagues, I didn’t have to adjust this at all. It just suited me perfectly and nicely matched the contours of my face.

Swapping lenses is easy

Removing a lens is very easy. The sides have moveable pieces which flip upwards.

This releases the lens, allowing you to simply lift it out of the nose piece. It comes with a storage pouch which can be used to clean the lens as well.

The Kask KOO on the road

During my first evening ride with the Kask KOO I noticed these glasses really weren’t made for extremely bright sunlight. It’s perfect in cloudy conditions, but that’s probably more down to the type of lens fitted to my test pair.

I could still see clearly with the Kask KOO once the sun started to set. Ideal then for a summer evening competition which finishes at dusk. Or during spring and fall when the sun isn’t out quite as much as it is during summer.

Another plus is the width of the lens, which really protects your eyes from any bugs or debris. Great on summer days then.

Kask KOO review: more great cycling glasses!

The Kask KOO are definitely cycling glasses which should find their way onto your shortlist if you’re in the market for some new shades. They feature a ton of adjustability which makes them ideal for almost any road or mountain biker.

The fit is perfect for me. Maybe even slightly better than my own Oakley Jawbreaker. But then, you want your glasses to look good too, which is why I still prefer the latter over the Kask KOO. If you already own a Kask cycling helmet however, then the Kask KOO should definitely be something to consider since they perfectly match with the Kask helmets.

However, the Kask KOO is more than pretty enough of its own right to wear with any cycling helmet. In essence: choosing your next cycling glasses has just become that little bit more difficult.

I'm an enthousiastic rider with 10 years of racing experience. I quit 2 years ago, but have since started riding with the amateurs again. I do so on a Ridley Helium fitted with Reynolds 66 wheels, or a set of Fast Forward F2r's. As you may have figured out, I love great equipment. I enjoy riding with my friends and colleagues, both here and abroad. I spend my winter on a Trek Superfly 9.6 and blasting around the Indoor Track at Apeldoorn.
