Technologies

Carbon frame
The Scott Contessa Scale 920 has a carbon frame with internal cable routing for protection against rain and dirt and, therefore, a longer life. The carbon frame is very light and stiff, which makes for excellent handling. As comfort is very important in off-road riding, Scott has selected a front fork that handles bumps and potholes in the terrain well. As for suspension, you don't need the same degree of suspension everywhere; on asphalt, for example, it is much more efficient to ride without it. This is why the fork has a lock-out, which you can use to switch the suspension off while riding. Moreover, as this bike is intended for women Scott has fitted a women-specific saddle for comfortable short- and long-distance riding.

SRAM shift system
For gear shifting, this Contessa Scale MTB has the SRAM SX/NX group, which is used in many mountain bikes and performs well. With 12 gears and an 11-50 cassette, the bike has a large gearing range, so if you want to beat your cycling friends on a steep climb, you certainly can! For braking, you have Shimano hydraulic disc brakes which deliver high braking power in good as well as bad conditions. They are also easy to modulate, allowing you to stay in control even on the steep descents.
